On August 17th, 2010, a film was going to come out that would bring the world’s greatest action-movie stars together on screen for an explosive and violent time (or so said the trailers). Not only would the film contain people such as Jet Li, Terry Crews, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren, it was also going to be directed by the action-man himself, Sylvester Stallone. The new series Don't Trust the B---- In Apartment 23 is the latest addition to ABC's Wednesday night comedy block, with new episodes airing at 9:30 Pm Et every week. Warning Shot and other themes composed by Jerry Goldsmith - Si Zentner

Dutton Vocalion is a company whose soundtracks feature regularly in our printed version of Cinema Retro. Just missing the deadline on this occasion are two superb debut releases, one of which includes Jerry Goldsmith’s excellent score (performed by Si Zentner) for Warning Shot (1967). Originally released on LP (Lst 7498), Vocalion’s new CD (Cdlk 4470) has smartly doubled up the release to include Si Zentner’s 1964 album From Russia With Love (originally released LP Lst 7353). Warning Shot is a relatively short score, but as with the original album, it includes some great interpretations of Goldsmith favourites such as the Von Ryan march, The Prize, A Patch of Blue and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Machine Gun Kelly relishes the underdog role, but the Cleveland, Ohio, rapper racked up another serious win on Tuesday (March 20) when he dropped his Half Naked & Almost Famous Ep on Bad Boy Records. The five-song digital release marks Mgk's first major-label release and serves as a warm-up for his official debut LP.

Tracks like the riot-starting "Warning Shot" and the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League-produced and soul-bearing "See My Tears" help balance out the quick fix, but the Ep's anchor is its first single, "Wild Boy." Initially Mgk was skeptical about leading his charge with the Waka Flocka-assisted track, but Diddy talked him into it. "He was the one who encouraged 'Wild Boy,' he encouraged the whole thing.

'This album is my offering to hip-hop,' he tells Mixtape Daily of long-awaited debut.

Real Spit: "This ain't about a mixtape, this is about my story," Saigon, a Mixtape Daily favorite, told us when we asked him about his upcoming project. "I know you know me from the mixtapes, but this is the album, the debut."

Pardon the intensity, but our Brooklyn brother has been hard at work on this project for more than a few years, and his labor of love is just weeks away from finally seeing the light of day.

"This album is my offering to hip-hop," Sai said. "There's no jumping from story to story. It's put together like a story, from start to beginning.

Cinema Retro columnist Dean Brierly has created two blogs to celebrate his favorite crime films of the 50s and 60s. As usual, Dean shows his taste for esoteric fare by avoiding many of the acknowledged classics in favor of films like Big House U.S.A., Hail Mafia!, Warning Shot and Kaleidoscope and other gems that rarely get the attention they deserve.
