yes, i am very surprised that a classic such as this one could have stayed here for so long without anbody commenting it. to make things even stranger, this is the first movie in macedonian production ever and still, it holds pretty well after all these years. the screenplay is based on a true story and unlike the american historic movies, this one holds pretty tight to what has been noted as truth. the camera work and the action scenes aren't that great, but the acting is, which can be especially felt in the end when some of the loveable characters die. i'm not able of commenting more, because i saw it for the last time two years ago, but still, if you like war movies or european movies in general, this one is for you, if you find it, that is.

hello, i need help to find this movie for my mother, she has been talking about it for so long and she really wants to see it again. If anybody can help me with an address where i can order it or a copy than i would be very grateful and i'm sure my mother would be to.

I hope there is someone around who can give me some help on this issue. And i also hope that this will be put on the site even though it is not a comment on the movie, sorry for using the site for that but everywhere i search for this movie only this site pups up so this is the only lead i got.

This is a must see for anybody who likes European movies. The plot is based on true story and tells about adventurous voyage of an old American lady in Macedonia during the Otoman Empire in the last century. The actors are fabulous and the story takes you speechless on a journey together with Miss Stone. You just have to watch it till the end to see how it ends!!! The emotions go high in many scenes and you can understand the political and cultural situation in Europe by the end of the century before the Otoman Empire ended and different states were created by the leading nations of that time. I really enjoyed watching this old style movie which makes you feel the emotions as you were there!!! Great scenes shoot in Macedonia in the 1950'.
