Stryapukha

There's not a lot to this film, a collective farm community in the Caucasus region of Soviet Russia is thrown into disarray by the arrival of a beautiful women who becomes their cook. All the men lust after her, but she only has eyes for one.

This not much to distinguish this light comedy romance from the numerous others that were being produced by Hollywood (and in France and Italy) during the same era. The cast is attractive, the production values are high, but the script is pretty thin. The really point of difference is the collective farming setting, which is not laboured over (no pun intended), but adds a clear Soviet perspective to an otherwise by the numbers film.

Nothing special, but certainly not bad.
