Accidente 703 (1962) turns out to be a nice , agile film with choral protagonism and Spanish-all star-cast . A man and a woman travel by car along the road between Madrid and Barcelona . When another car unexpectedly crosses their path , they suffer an accident in which a woman is seriously injured . After the car accident that gives it its title , creating a long flashback with various actions in parallel during the course of a day . The film moves from Barcelona to Guadalajara , passing through the resort of Alhama de Aragón , attending a wedding between a couple of intimate lovers (José Luis López Vazquez, Maite Blasco) with the premiere of a somewhat deteriorated Seat 600 . A number of drivers , including the person responsible for the accident pass by ; among them is Julio, a truck driver who does not know that the injured woman is an old girlfriend of his , a couple of undercover lovers (Carlos Estrada, , Susana Campos) who want to hide their adultery and some young pilots (Carlos Ballesteros , Irán Eory) competing at a car race , among others .
A choral film about a mystery of identity , depicting a car accident through several actions , although the main center of the plot results to be the problematic relationship between the two affectionate lovers , Carlos Estrada and Susana Campos, as situations of comedy and drama are alternated with a magnificent main and secondary cast, as the main diversion is to guess which next character to appear here and there . Following the misfortunes of a man , Manolo Gómez Bur , with a desire to improve his job by having to transport the company salaries ; to the doubts of a couple of lovers , Carlos Estrada , Susana Campos , who debate their future as a couple ; to the misadventures of a group of young people in a race with sports cars ; or a trucker en route and anything else . The film at the beginning is dynamic, nimble , entertaining , interesting in the confluence of very different roles ; but in its final conclusion , things are forced to achieve the surprise effect , with small characters diluted in the crossing situation and insufficient conflict resolutions . Here stands out the great cast with a lot of familiar faces , such as : Jesús Guzmán as best man at the wedding of José Luis López Vázquez with Maite Blasco ; Manuel Alexandre as the roguish Garcia , a car dealer ; Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro as López Vázquez's aunt-in-law added to the honeymoon ; Carlos Cores as a doubtful trucker ; Nuria Torray as a wounded and pregnant woman ; Erasmo Pascual as a doctor friend of Manolo Gómez Bur ; Lola Herrera -Lolita at the time- as the girlfriend of the aforementioned Gómez Bur ; a liitle girl Maribel Martín in an appearance as the niece of the owner of a haberdashery ; Jesús Puente as civil traffic guard , and Julia Gutiérrez Caba who obtained in 1962 Winner Prize of the National Syndicate of Spectacle to Best Actress . And including other prestigious secondaries , such as : José Orjas , José María Caffarel , Irán Eory, Carlos Ballesteros, Antonio Casas , Rufino Inglés, Ana María Ventura, Tito Garcia , Frank Braña , Alicia Hermida , Angel Alvarez and several others .
It contains an appropriate cinematography in black and white by cameraman Juán Mariné . As well as atmospheric musical score by Adolfo Waitzman. The motion picture was professionally directed by José Maria Forqué and had success enough at the box-office . José Maria Forqué was a fine craftsman , being winner Sant Jordi Award and achieved a honorific Goya to his long career . Forqué was one of the best Spanish filmmakers who directed all kinds of genres as Comedy : Un Millon en la Basura, La vil seduccion, Bring a Little loving , Vacaciones para Ivette . Softcore : Beyond Erotica, La Mujer de la Tierra Caliente . Giallo and thrillers : Tarot , In the Eye of the Hurricane, La Legion del Silencio, A devil under the pillow. His greatest succeses were : Embajadores en el Infierno, Amanecer de la Puerta Oscura and the clasic comedy : Atraco a las 3 . And he also made important TV series as Miguel Servet and Ramon y Cajal. Accidente 703 (1962) rating 6.5/10 . Better than average drama movie. Well worth watching for Spanish cinema fans.
