Dopey Detectives....

Once again, the Moe, Larry, Shemp trio take a turn at playing detectives & the results are very funny. This is like Golden Age Hollywood noir mixed with horror, and expertly directed by Edward Bernds.

The stooges are janitors, who just happen to be in a detective's office, when suddenly, the beautiful Christine McIntyre rushes in--desperate and not knowing where to turn. She gets abducted & it's up to our three brainy heroes to save her.

There are many great scenes in this one, and--like a lot of Ed Bernds shorts--a hallway chase is prerequisite. The funniest moment may be when Larry surprises Shemp, with what Shemp thinks is Larry's disembodied head--they got him and he's still talking,

Just a great scare routine done by the boys....

a little ragged

The Stooges are movers who get mistaken for private detectives. A beautiful dame is desperate for help. She gets kidnapped and the boys have to rescue her. A mad scientist is building killer robots but he needs some human heads.

Normally, Stooges stories don't have to make complete sense but this one is a little more ragged than usual. It is still fun but the plot has some sharp turns. I watched the color version. It's a little different to be out of the black and white world. It's also more horror than comedy when crazy people are coming at the Stooges with knives.

Good one!

This Stooge short is very spooky with the storms,wind,and everything!Christine McIntyre is very good in this and as always she is very beautiful and she is My favorite actress in the Stooges episodes.Stanley Price and Philip Van Zandt put on good performances.This is a great one to watch during Halloween time!

Gaffes
Shemp tries to get into the room with the table blade, but it's locked. After attempting to leave through the front door, he turns and runs back down the hall. The same door is now open as evidenced by the light coming through the opening.
