Fun swedish comedy classic

Sweden has produced lots of great movies throughout the times, many of the outstanding ones being more Bergman-esque dramas, but this one is a great example of the tradition of balancing comedy and drama in swedish movie canon.

It is a great and cleverly written film, that might seem simple on its surface but contains lots of layers. The songs incorporated in the film, giving it somewhat of a musical feel, are very catchy and flows very well within the narrative.

Overall, a very beautifully cinematographied, acted and hilariously written film that is sure to be recommended for any lover of film.

Anecdotes
The ship on which most of the action takes place, is HSwMS Gotland, a seaplane cruiser launched in 1933 and after WW II converted to an anti-aircraft cruiser. HSwMS HGotland was decommissioned in 1956.

Gaffes
When the first troop of navvies are marching to the cruiser to embark, the officer commanding is marching on the left of the columns. In the next scene, arriving at the dock, he has moved to the right side of the troop.
