Into the early period of cinema as a whole, I just went through this great movie which came out in the early 50s and so much fascinated about the visual representation. I was stunned because of the gigantic way of production throughout and wondered about the way of depiction. The subject blend with some sort of history along with fictional as well as supernatural elements but what makes to open up my mouth because of the extraordinary making. It is relative to the time also. How the director and the crew able to manage these numerous numbers of the junior artist, how art director creates those kinds of gigantic sculptures like a palace, the forest, and the stuff like that. The elephant sequence, the war sequence everything makes me so thrilled. Add one thing to IMDb, this film is not only a drama or history one it is musical also.

The story of Avvaiyaar, the saint who chose to forgo her youth for the sake of the Almighty, this film is a grand production. The elephant sequence is one of the highlights. KB Sundarambal fits the title role to the T. The songs, in her inimitable voice, are outstanding.

The creators of the movie collected information from different sources about Avvaiyyar and had written a comfortable Screenplay and made this Film. There are two main aspects of this movie. One, the leading cast K. B. Sundarambal, an established Actress and Singer, who lived as Avvaiyyar in this Movie. The other is the leading crew, the Producer of the Movie who created a history in the Tamil Film industry by making this Excellent Movie with thousands of casts, a breath-taking sequence with hundreds of elephants and massive Sets. The Cinematographer and the Special Effects designer had done their best to make this Film more effective. It is still unimaginable, how this film was made on those days. Now-a-days there are many advanced technologies and many leading Producers in this Tamil Film industry. Even though they have money, they don't have the mind or dedication to make these Genres of Movies. For Gemini Pictures the Movies Avvaiyyar (1953) and Chandralekha (1948) were milestones of their Production Era.
