Gary Cooper is seen shaving, and skinny dipping in the river, but is so politely photographed that the audience does not see anything it's not intended to see; over the years, over-imaginative viewers with creative memories have enhanced this sequence far beyond the realities and limits of contemporary 1929 film making but prefer to believe whatever they enjoy being told to believe.
Assuming its copyright has not lapsed already, this film and all others produced in 1929 enter the U.S. public domain in 2025.
The singing voice of Gary Cooper was provided by Russ Columbo who also appeared in the cast as a supporting player, reportedly as a result of his romance at the time with the film's leading lady Lupe Velez, who later turned her affections to Cooper.
