Pals of the West

Hal Tallieraferro (as Wally Wales), is under orders from Sheriff Franklyn Farnum to track down and capture outlaw Yakima Canutt. Track him down he does, in about eight minutes, but it's Canutt who does the capturing. He ties up Hal. Fortunately, Hal's horse, Silver King, is there to save the day!

It's one of several short westerns these fellows played in for Robert Emmett Tansey about this period. For shorts, they were slow-paced things, which I dealt with my watching them at 30 frames per second instead of the usual 24. At that speed, there were little things to enjoy, like the way Canutt drew his gun, twirled it and shot -- missing, of course; he's a bad guy; I enjoyed the turkey gobbling somewhere at the farm. Also, I enjoyed Silver King, who is clearly one of those animal performers smarter than their nominal masters. I hope he negotiated a better contract than the human players.
