Good Silent Movie

The Midnight Taxi is a good movie, that I saw tonight on YouTube. The main reason I watched is Myrna Loy ( Gertie) in one of her rare surviving silent movies. To be honest, she is not in the movie for long ( maybe five minutes), but at least she is not playing an exotic character ( although she is bad). Interesting enough, there are elements that make you think of another Myrna film Whiplash where the bad girl ( Myrna ) goes good and has a diamond smuggled on her without her knowing. Here it is Nan (Helene Costello) with stolen bail bonds and money in her fur coat. Here you also see a bad person "Taxi" Tom (Antonio Moreno) do the same turn good. How does it end? In a very unexpected way. I was actually tricked by the ending, and in a good way. Is it perfect? No ( not enough Myrna), but it is well worth watching. 8/10 stars.
