    Grateful for the experience

I watched the first episode and it made me cry. I love it. I learned something from it; about young people that are arriving to the world. And what I learned about them is making me hopeful. It also made me aware of my own age in a different more positive way. In a good way. I feel that I am not only starting to understand and love youth of today, but I am also starting to understand my own perspective, relation to them. I am old enough that they are not reminding me of my own young age so I am free from nostalgia. That feels good. I don't desire to be like them. I can not be. They are radically different and that difference is something unique that I can grasp and admire without feeling regret about it. I was never like them so I am free from bitterness and resentment about lost opportunity. That's truly liberating. I am starting to understand that youth never repeat itself. The way I was young 40 years ago has nothing to do with a way they are young today. And yet, as I am starting to grasp this difference across the generations I am also starting to understand value of where I am standing right now in my own life. Because although my youth is in the past, I am still alive. And as much as they are unique and precious in their age of becoming, I am also unique and precious in mine. No need for comparison, regret and for nostalgia. It is exactly in this unreconcilable difference between us where we can meet and learn from each other. Help one another. After all Luca Guadagino is around my age, and the way he can look at youth of today is exactly speaking about all this. I am grateful for his gaze. It help me see the truth of generations myself. It help me learn to live my life just a bit better. Maybe that's the beginning of some kind of wisdom that belong to my age. I hope it is.

And concerning supposed inaccuracy in the representation of the American army base. This is, luckily, not a documentary TV show about a life in US military base. And beside that, even if it would be, those who claim that they know it better, are misunderstanding the nature of artistic insight into the truth of a place. One can spend all of one's life in such an establishment and yet still not really know it. Accuracy of description is not guaranteeing depth of an insight. On the contrary, such an accuracy usually lead to some form of unwilling reiteration of common wisdom - pure propaganda. Because everything that is grasped on the surface is always already constructed by prefabricated social conventions. To go under it, means to brake rules of representation. That's how art is made.

    CERTAINLY NOT FOR EVERYBODY

It's crude , it's raw but whatever it is it's beautiful . Its certainly not for the people who believe in the totality of things , or people who believe that every action is supposed to have a motive . This show is all about the confusion that our minds go through , it's all about those unbridled moments in life where you struggle to define yourself, your ideas and your identity . It's about celebrating the uncertainty of our beings and not giving up on finding our true essence . If you look closely you will find some fragment or the other of your life in the show giving you the assurance that whatever you face is not uncommon and it's certainly not bad . In the end , there are few seemingly bad things about the characters but isnt it the way people are ? Not good , not bad but grey . So watch it if you want to because the result is highly subjective and is extremely dependent on the way you perceive things because in this show there is no single definite reason and I believe that is how things really are . What's good to you might be bad to someone else & vice versa .

    Was good, then...

The first six episodes really seemed like they had promise. The show touches on many interesting ideas, but does not follow through on many (or most) of them.

The seventh episode was a waste of time that added nothing to the stories.

The eight episode is 40 minutes of a concert I didn't want to attend, then a nonsensical ending to a story that had built such complicated characters.

Very unsatisfying overall, but if you're going to try it, binge it. Not worth waiting week to week.

I actually really loved the first episode!

I'm not even going to add a rating cause THE SHOW HASN'T EVEN ENDED! All of the negative reviews are literally either homophobic, transphobic, or mad about nudity. It's literally a human body get over it and for the review saying it's not realistic cause you've never met a gay commander, my mother's best friend is a gay commander. Even if you've never seen it, does not mean it doesn't happen. Anyways, the first episode (as of me writing this it's the only one out) was actually pretty good. It was a little odd at moments, but the soundtrack was good. The cinematography was AMAZING! The acting was pretty good. The script felt a little off at moments or like forced, but it didn't really bother me too much. Also, it actually made me emotional because of how I have been in a similar position as Fraser. Jack Dylan Grazer is doing a really good job with the role and I feel like the episode will get better and better. It gives me a Euphoria vibe without being anything like Euphoria. I would probably give the first episode a 8/10.

Complete first season dilutes the whole rating-system. The invidual episodes have higher ratings the rating all over.
