Love everything about this show except one and only thing. The animation style is a little rough for me. But other than that this show is amazing, perfect balance of humor, sadness, and serious undertones along with some bad ass action sequences. I first read about hit monkey in the Daniel Way run of Deadpool where he had a pretty short but funny arc with a contract for Deadpool himself. I wish I had followed up on the character with the comic series they decided to make debuting him. But this show is a pretty compelling telling of the hit monkey tale. Not sure how cannon it is to the comics and 10 episodes is just not enough, but it's all around fun. Episode 1 had me hooked for sure. I would compare it to the likes of archer, actually I feel it was influenced by that show which I also enjoy. Only perhaps with the humor toned down just a tad. All in all highly recommend but definitely leave the kiddos out of this one!

With no knowledge of its source material, the series feels different in comparison to other Marvel animated series. The main reason being this isn't targeted towards younger audiences and the violence is more graphic than initially expected.
What makes it work is the characters. The monkey is likeable (although do not understand why he wasn't given a name), Bryce (voiced by Jason Sudeikis) has funny and witty dialogue, and the other supporting characters are interesting. As watched the finale episode, can only wonder how much more anticipation season 2 will be.

I saw the trailer and was like, oh cool, a funny show about a monkey assassin, this should be a good laugh. Finished the season after crying about 5 times. Jesus Christ, the feels, take your 10 stars.

When I decided to watch this show, I expected to watch a monkey kill some bad guys. And that's more or less what I got. Monkey does kill a lot of bad guys in well-animated and bloody fights. What I didn't expect was a show with surprisingly good emotional beats, well written characters, and an engaging plot. It's obviously no Shawshank, but if you're looking for a well-made, entertaining watch, you could do a lot worse.

The monkey is likable, the action is especially crazy (leveraging the monkey's acrobatics), and Jason Sudeikis provides some really funny lines throughout! :-) Lots of wild graphic action, irreverent comedy, and a bunch of heart! :-)

This came out of nowhere and hit me smack in the face. It is hilarious, gory, brutal, all at the same time. This show does not pull any punches and makes no excuses for it's self. I can do nothing but highly recommend this. One of the most bingeable stuff I have seen in avail.
From the clever way the title pops up at the beginning of each episode...to the anime style...to the tarantino-esque gore...to the fast talking hitman ghost(Sudekis)...to the fact that this is MARVEL?!?! A solid 10 from me.
There's a lot to like about the show. I like the yakuza plot and themes, the music, and Hit-Monkey himself.
But the show could be better. The art is good in frames; but not so much in motion. It makes the fight scenes feel less impactful.
Also: Bryce. I found him to be a highly annoying character who does nothing but spew unfunny one-liners. I enjoy comedy, but this should be a show that takes itself seriously.
Nonetheless, it is better than some other adult animated shows, and I'll gladly take this over generic fox family sitcom number 69420z.

I have no doubt that a certain group of the population looking for some mindless violence and action peppered with one liners and average jokes will be thrilled to watch this. In reality we have middle of the road animation, slightly below average stories and plot writing. If you have some time to burn and want to watch something that clearly has a ridiculous plot premise that features a protagonist that literally can't speak English at all and a major supporting actor that is definitely a sociopath and experienced hit man, then yes, this may be for you!
I am going to give this show a 6/10 after 3 episodes. I will be watching the rest here shortly and will update my rating upon completion in case it gets better, otherwise I think my review and rating should be right on the mark!

MONKE. Man oh man. This show hits all the right spots. Action, gore, humor it's all there. Crazy how they turned the Daniel Way creation into a series. It's a breeze to watch. Bingeworthy!
This is just the kind of work I was waiting for. The Archer-y animation style meets John Wick works surprisingly well for this show.
Is there anything as too much Jason Sudeikis? Not for me. Everything about this show is so bizarre and yet that's exactly why it works.
Very cool. MONKE.

Here comes Marvel r rated animation, the concept is really nice and new but there must be really need of better story startup, the 2,3 episode is kind of not good as 1, but the action scenes are so good, in whole some if you want to watch something new in animation there is something you should watch.

THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD! It's funny it has character and it's unique story is just amazing! This show is the best in a while and I highly recommend! The first 2 episodes really bring you into the story and intrigue you with it's great plot and character development. - Nov 17 2021
Ight I just watched season 2 a while back forgot i wrote a review for this, yea not happy, really did a 180 very disappointed in the direction they went it lost the plot. 4/10 only because season 1 was very fun to watch (except nearing the last 2 episodes but it was okish)

For this animation genre this is excellent. Jason Sudeikis modifies his voice enough to be this great character. Much like Archer, his wit is piercing, like the lines he slings on Ted Lasso. Great to see this properly paced series take off. Outshines most other 'violent animations'. I hope it lasts.

Beats the punisher and deadpool. Which isn't easy. But it's animated so not so hard. Great storyline and very entertaining. Others will look on it because it's not as serious as the other marvel shows. But it actually is pretty serious and makes you feel bad for the characters.

I didn't expect the show to be any good, but it's much better, than most of the MCU shows. And to think about it - it's just some cool killer monkey, how can it be any good at all? But it is. Maybe partially that's because the monkey has some ghost partner, who actually talks. I love that they didn't make Hit-Monkey talking or super clever or something like this. It really is just an ordinary monkey, but maybe not entirely ordinary... Hit-Monkey really can kill and kill good. The show was mostly fun to watch and there was almost no boring moments. It has some comic easter eggs and it really uses some things from a few Hit-Monkey comics that exist.

I've heard of Hitmonkey but didn't really know too much about him other than he's fought Deadpool, Bullseye (and lady Bullseye i guess), and teamed up with Danny Ran (the best iron fist in my not so humble opinion). At first I found Bryce annoying but when he finally got down to what he was supposed to be doing I have to admit I felt kind of bad when he met his end but I guess for the story it was necessary. Monkey is also a fun character and I loved seeing the odd couple dou these two made up.
I think season one was better than season 2 because it was nice that a Marvel show wasn't set in New York for once (i'm from New York by the way) and I've always wanted to go to Japan. I like the fact that we got to see some obscure characters who are Japan based show up in the show. Season 2 is set in New York and like season 1 it was nice to see some obscure Marvel characters get some shine.
So I like the action, the fact that it doesn't shy away from the gruesome violence, and eventhough the comedy was sometimes hit or miss for me I appreciate the laughs. I have mixed feelings about the animation because eventhough it was done by the same company that does Archer it looks like they used downgraded animation . Also I'm not red pilled or anything like that but Jesus I don't get why they keep trying to sneak in political and social commentary because the people who try to are as subtle as an elephant ramming into a clown car. I also said this is the best Marvel/Hulu collab and honestly that's not really saying much but this show is alot of fun and I'd like to see more Marvel animated shows geared towards adults with better animation and solid writing that pays attention to the source material.

I expected Hit-Monkey to be a really violent revenge story and it is but it does have some good character growth and writing that makes you feel for the Monkey and Bryce.
Being free from the MCU, Hit-Monkey is able to show the gorier, more adult side of Marvel. It rightfully fully indulges in this, while balancing out with genuine character drama as well as funny worldbuilding (no, it's not just the titular monkey who is sapient among the animals in the show).
Still, this is a buddy cop style show, and if there is one flaw is that it focuses way too much on Bryce, to the point that the second season is almost all about him over Hit-Monkey. While he's not a bad character per se, he definitely feels much more generic as an absentee father hedonist type character, while Monkey's plot is more complex and nuanced.
A recommendation.

When I read the synopsis I cringed.
I expected a cheep, cartoonish, silly TV show about a talking monkey. Luckily it is not.
The show subverts the expectation of silliness by delivering a serious, deep narrative which is beautifully animated.
There is a lot of humour but it's mature classy humour. By having it in an otherwise serious story it works very well.
Unfortunately I think the show is canceled. It's a shame they didn't promote it more. I only just found the show this year.
DW no cliffhangers are left. You will get a strong feeling of completeness at the end.

Extremely entertaining show which has several problems that prevent it from getting a higher grade. The animation is a little choppy, I did not feel Jason Sudeikis is the right voice actor for the role. I am excited for how they set up the 2nd season but I did not feel the ending for the first season worked. I like most of the characters and the story. Endless fun.

HJ Benjamin as Archer works because his voice is cool and fits the character's personality. Jason Sudeikis sounds and acts exactly like he always does, which doesn't work for this role. The show is cool but he was horribly miscast, most likely because of his popularity in Ted Lasso.
