One of 12 Westerns made in 12 months and inspired by a true story, an African-American man nicknamed Texas Red (played by Grammy-nominated blues singer Cedric Burnside) is hunted by hundreds of men through the Winter wilderness of Mississippi in 1940. After a raid on their cabin, he and his partner the Oklahoma Kid go on the run from local sheriffs, vigilantes, and federal law enforcement.

Umm the review below is inaccurate this movie had nothing to do with the plight of buffalo soldiers. This movie was about a black man being hunted in mississippi for standing his ground; which historically happened many times.

Considering the budget, this seemed to really stretch every dollar. An overall great film.

The photography was wonderful. The scoring actually pleasently surprised me at times.

The acting was up and down. I felt a few actors did really well while others not so much.

If the budget was doubled, I'd invest in higher quality sound equipment for less reliability on ADR. Sometimes it's very noticable when lip reading dialogue doesn't match up.

Also more atmosphere would help, especially in the woods. The sfx can be costly, but it would really help the picture.

Was worth the watch. Have no clue why some of these people feel the need to give this 1 star and be nasty. This really was a good film!

Anecdotes
The cast and crew were stalked during production by a few Franklin county residents, angered by the film's story which touches on a raid on an African-American man's cabin which led to the killing of a deputy and subsequent manhunt. The stalkers attempted to intimate the cast and crew, driving by the locations several times and making obscene comments on the film's Facebook page. Authorities were notified during production.
