We love us some Scott Adkins here at JoBlo! And the unofficial successor to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s spinning kicks returns with a new action thriller from Lionsgate. Adkins reunites with Marko Zaror as the two have faced off as rivals in Undisputed III: Redemption and both appeared with Keanu Reeves in John Wick 4. Adkins and Zaror star in Diablo alongside Alanna De La Rossa, whose credits include Sound of Freedom. Diablo is helmed by Ernesto Dìaz Espinoza and he directs from a script written by Mat Sansom. Adkins is also on board as a producer of the film. Lionsgate has now released the trailer, which you can check out above.

Rip follows a team of Miami cops whose trust begins to fray when they discover millions in cash in a derelict stash house. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything for the team is called into question — including who they can rely on. The Artists Equity production cast includes Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Teyana Taylor, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Nestor Carbonell.

Adkins, we hear, will be playing the brother of Affleck’s character. Carnahan also wrote the movie.

Actors Equity is the the artist-led studio founded by Affleck and Damon. They’re producing for the studio in addition to Luciana Damon and Dani Bernfeld. Executive producers are Michael Joe and Kevin Halloran for Artists Equity.

Actor Ray Stevenson has passed away. Variety reports that Stevenson died on Sunday with his publicist confirming the news, but as of now, no information has been shared regarding a cause of death. He was 58 years old, passing just days ahead of his 59th birthday.

The news of Stevenson's passing arrives as a shock, as it comes days after he was announced to be starring in Frank Ciota's upcoming drama film Cassino in Ischia, and there had been no indications that the actor was in ill health. It has also been revealed that Stevenson had completed work on the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka, which will feature him posthumously and may serve as his final role. A first look at him in the role was unveiled last month.

Ray Stevenson, the burly British actor who starred as Volstagg in the Thor movies and as the brutally evil governor in the recent Oscar-winning Indian hit Rrr, has died. He was 58.

Stevenson died Sunday, four days shy of his birthday, his publicist Nicki Fioravante told The Hollywood Reporter. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota.

No other details of his death were immediately available.

The 6-foot-3 actor was an imposing presence onscreen and commanded attention when he took to the stage in April for a public appearance at Star Wars Celebration in London. He is one of the main antagonists in the upcoming Star Wars series Ahsoka.

According to reports this afternoon, British-Irish actor Ray Stevenson has tragically passed away this week. The Punisher: War Zone star was just 58 years old.

Ray Stevenson was most recently seen in the Academy Award-winning action movie Rrr, playing the critically acclaimed Indian film’s central villain.

Stevenson memorably played Frank Castle in 2008’s Punisher: War Zone, a violent comic book movie that cemented him as many fans’ all-time favorite Punisher actor.

Scott Adkins can be a menacing man if the script calls. The action star recently had some fun in the vamp, action-comedy Day Shift, but he’s been very busy starring in flicks like the recent Accident Man: Hitman’s Holiday. And now, this impressive fellow joins the cast of the excellent sequel, John Wick: Chapter 4. In it, Adkins plays a fellow appropriately named ‘Killa.’ And yes, the dude fits perfectly into this wild world. Joining Mr. Adkins in the fourth John Wick includes a few heavy hitters in the action world, making it all the more thrilling for those of us in the audience to take in.

Recently, I spoke to some of the cast members of John Wick: Chapter 4. It’s been amazing having the chance to cover each of these films, and this fourth time feels particularly special with folks like Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Mr. Scott Adkins.

It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.

February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. Fineburg has worked at Samuel Goldwyn Films for six years, most recently serving as Director of Acquisitions and Theatrical Sales. Malta’s planning authority has approved plans for the construction of the Mediterranean island country’s first interior sound stage to complement its existing exterior tank shooting facilities.

The new studio space will be built on 4,000 square metres at the Malta Film Studios at Kalkara, adjacent to its exterior deep-water tank.

A highlight of the facility will be an environment-controlled, indoor 2,000 square-metre water tank overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, giving the same infinite horizon effect as the exterior deep-water tank.

The planning approval marks a milestone for Malta’s film and TV sectors and is expected to boost its attractivity as an international shooting location.

“For long years, almost 60 years, we’ve been hearing that sound stages were going to be built in Malta. Today, we are writing our history” said Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech.

Exclusive: UK distributor and producer Signature Entertainment has appointed Ben Jacques to the newly created role of Head Of UK Production.

Jacques most recently produced Scott Adkins action movies One Shot and Accident Man 2, which is in post-production.

Reporting to Signature CEO and founder Marc Goldberg, Jacques will be responsible for developing and delivering the company’s slate of UK productions. He previously teamed up with the company on 2017 crime pic The Hatton Garden Job and the aforementioned One Shot, which also starred Ashley Greene and Ryan Philippe. He was also a co-producer on movies including iBoy, Green Street 3 and Never Back Down: Revolt.
