Avis à la une
The plot is ridiculous, the characters are ridiculous and the script is plain silly. This is not to say the movie was bad, but it's beyond me how it's not listed as a comedy/horror, since that seemed to be the intent.
The acting was kind of mediocre, but some of that might be due to how exaggerated their characters were, like their dumb jock and wimpy kid characters were each dialed up to 100, with a mysterious foreigner being somewhere near 1000.
I may have a slight bias, since I almost became a knife salesman myself when I was younger, and the film did a good job at the start showing how silly it felt sitting in one of those rooms, hearing the promise of riches from selling miracle knives door-to-door.
As a horror alone, it was a failure, but as a comedy with a horror theme, it was at least moderately entertaining, keeping me interested enough to finish, and even laugh a few times along the way.

There is no way this was written by people who wanted to tell an entertaining story. Granted, there are the very vaguest bones of an idea hiding beneath the bloated flesh of what actually happens, but none of them really come to the surface.
Acting is barely passable. All technical aspects seem to be done professionally enough. The house is a gorgeous setting. But the script and 'humor' and 'horror' are giant fails.
This didn't lean hard enough into the comedy aspects, so the caricatures come across as insulting stereotypes. Nor did it lean hard enough into the horror aspects, meaning it wasn't gruesome or creepy. Characters were stupidly flawed, cell service failure was yada-yada 'a dead zone', and nothing really made sense. Even the twist and follow up were hollow and weak.
I truly believe that whomever was in charge expected that having some horror icons in the cast would elevate this to cult status and all the numerous flaws would be overlooked. But nothing about the movie hits that cult, spoof, self-aware, cheesiness that it was looking for.

I did not expect this, at all. It started out looking sort of cheap to be honest, not the best camera quality, but as the minutes went by, jokes, actual jokes, started to make their appearance. And believe it or not, I laughed and craved for more.
The humor here, for this sort of production, it really is top notch, up there with Housebound, or One-Eyed Monster, movies that are not afraid to blend in some good ol slice and dice with out of place jokes that just make everything better. Good kills, lovely acting, beautifully written script and one marvelous indie execution, made Knifecorp one of the best movies I've seen this year. It really is a pleasant surprise and I do recommend it for anyone that wants to have a good time.
Now don't get me wrong, it is certainly not a Fear Street sort of film, but you do have to take in consideration the budget, the possibilities it had, and if you do so, you will understand that the people involved in the making of Knifecorp really gave it their best and truly delivered something special.
All in all, great way to pass the time, I did not expect to be this entertained, but here I am, all smiles and good mood.
Cheers!

Kane Hodder is a horror icon and a legendary stuntman. His most notable role is playing the best Jason Voorhees in 4 Friday The 13th films, back in the old days. He is also known for playing Victor Crowley in the Hatchet films. After the Victor Crowley sequel in 2017, he is finally back in a good independent horror... there are some really cheesy scenes but its still a fun ride. And what a great performance from Kane! Also, there are some nice cameos from Tiffany Shepis and Felissa Rose. It's not the best horror movie ever made but it's really not that bad either. I had fun watching it and I think if you want to kill some time, especially if you're a Kane Hodder fan, you should check it out.
Good movie to watch for especially the kane hodder the movie is simple but great acting from all characters make it a must see movie.

- AnecdotesThe movie re unites two 80's slasher icons. Kane Hodder who portrayed Jason in 4 of the "Friday the 13th" films and Felissa Rose who portrayed Angela in Massacre au camp d'été (1983).
- GaffesWally mistakenly refers to modern US pennies as being made of solid copper. They are, in fact, made almost entirely of zinc, with only a plating of copper. This has been in effect since the US Mint began issuing the new one-cent coin in the early 1980's, but keeping the President Lincoln portrait on the obverse. Hence, the nickname "zincons".

Wally Banks: Now, tell me, Mr. Finn, have you even seen a pair of scissors so sharp that can cut right through copper?
Angus Finn: Oh, sure, let's just deface some U.S. currency.
