Avis à la une
We all struggle to overcome grief / step forward in life so this all-age-friendly movie is appropriate for everyone, whether you like coupledom or enjoy being single.
7.0 stars.
'Love Alaska' presents a unique blend of emotions, combining elements of sadness, hope, anger, and depression, with a touch of failed humor. The narrative follows a group of tourists at a dating retreat in a remote Alaskan town, where individuals from around the world converge to find love. Amidst the comedic moments, there are glimpses of deeper issues as the protagonist, grappling with PTSD, pushes away help and seeks solace in solitude, haunted by feelings of disappointment and avoidance of emotional entanglements.
The lead female character, returning to her hometown after years away, inherits a medical practice following her uncle's passing. As the past relationship between the two leads resurfaces after a 15-year hiatus, the film delves into their personal struggles and strained dynamics. Despite some awkward and tense moments, the movie falls short in striking a necessary balance between military veterans' challenges and normal life.
While the film's attempt at humor may feel mistimed, it serves to prevent the narrative from becoming overly bleak, making it somewhat more engaging for viewers. Overall, 'Love Alaska' struggles to deliver the emotional weight required to fully convey the complexities of its characters' struggles.

Plot -former redident returne to town to reopen her late uncle's medical practice. Her high school ex is in town too.
This was a Harlequin movie, but it was reminiscent of the Hallmark movie "Christmas Under Cover'" starring Candace Cameron Bure. Both female leads are doctors, and both arrive in Alaska totally underdressed for the weather. It's Alaska people, it's covered in snow, it's cold, costume departments (for both movies) put those people in coats, boots and mittens.
Ok, enough of that. I really enjoyed this movie. I have never seen eother of the leads in any movie, however they were awesome. Their chemistry was immediate and real. Victor Zinck Jr as Finn did a superb job of portraying a veteran suffering from PTSD, he did a great acting job. Sarah Podemski did an excellant job as Maggie. Supporting characters / actors were great too. Especially Joey Fatone as Hank, he was a hoot.
My advice; Watch this movie.

Beautiful scenery the lady doctor seems a little cold and the guy with PTSD really plays the part as if he experienced that trauma
Should leave Joey Fatone out he is an awful actor .
The giddy woman Emma acts like a teenager so silly for a woman her age.

This romance will thaw any frozen heart! I love rom-coms set in different locations, Alaska doesn't get enough love. The connection is so strong between Sarah Podernski and Victor Zinck you can feel it through the screen.

- AnecdotesMovie is based on a Harlequin novel "An Alaskan Christmas" by Belle Calhoune.
- GaffesWhen Declan is talking to Finn as Finn is packing to leave Love for good, Finn is seen from the back with his arms slightly out and his hands on his waist. From the front, he is seen sometimes with his arms in this position, and sometimes with his arms straight down.
