As Microsoftlayoffs continue to cast a shadow over many operations at the company, users are reporting mass outages this morning for Outlook and Hotmail. Login issues are the primary culprit, as users are experiencing problems accessing their email or connecting to Microsoft's servers.
Several thousand users are affected as Microsoft attempts to resolve the issue as soon as possible. While email outages aren't particularly common, they're generally a high-priority item for organizations like Microsoft to address, mainly because many of their employees rely on Hotmail and Outlook for communication.
Why Are Outlook and Hotmail Down? Microsoft is "Working" On A Fix
Microsoft has apparently "identified the issue" and is "continuing to deploy the fix" as many go without email this morning. The issue isn't fully widespread throughout all of Outlook and Hotmail thankfully, as many users are able to access their email without issue, especially outside of the United States.

The 1979 Atari 2600 game Video Chess has claimed another victim. After handily winning against ChapGPT in June of this year, the Atari 2600 managed to best Microsoft Copilot in a game of chess. As numerous publishers rush to develop the best and brightest "AI" tools, many of them are stumbling over each other, especially those that attempt to be advanced catch-all search engines sold as miracle serums.
Robert Caruso, a curious Citrix Engineer, managed to stage the contest and reported the bout on LinkedIn. After checking in with Copilot and ensuring that it could play chess, the AI was "brimming with confidence," a level of hubris that would ultimately lead to its downfall. Copilot even boasted that it could track the board better than ChatGPT, adding an extra level of confidence to the mix. After all that, it still lost against a retro champion.

As part of its recent expansion towards incorporating AI in just about everything, Microsoft has announced a ‘Copilot for Gaming’, which aims to assist players across multiple genres of video games across a wide variety of tasks.
Ethical and accuracy related concerns aside, this is quite the strange move, and has not been taken kindly by content creators and netizens alike. Users have lashed out at Xbox, accusing them of undoing years of hard work put together by content creators in the form of AI-generated content.

Sunday Am: Refresh for chart and analysis… Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World came in slightly better on Saturday with $27.5M from what we saw last night; this is from the extra ticket sales that roll into Comscore overnight. Rivals firmly believe that we have the first $100M opener on hand for 2025’s domestic B.O., and Disney believes that as well. Global opening is at $192.4M which is roughly $2M higher than where Nancy and I spotted it.
For a B- CinemaScore MCU movie — a $100M opening? We’ll take it. Very good job, Disney.
Box office stat firm EntTelligence says 5.7M people went to see Captain America: Brave New World over the 3-day ($88.5M) off average ticket prices of $15.17 (general) and $18.60 (general Pdf). In regards to Saturday’s business, 51% of the crowd went to see Brave New World before 5Pm.

Four major generative AI chatbots – OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft’s Copilot, Google’s Gemini and Perplexity AI – did a shoddy job of summarizing the news, a study by the BBC found.
The organization fed content from its website to the services and then asked them questions about the news. More than half of the answers contained “significant inaccuracies” and distortions, the BBC said.
Examples of errors included Gemini incorrectly saying the UK’s National Health Service did not recommend vaping as an aid to quit smoking and ChatGPT and Copilot both wrongly indicating that politicians Rishi Sunak and Nicola Sturgeon were still in office. Perplexity also misquoted a BBC News report about the Middle East, saying Iran showed “restraint” and calling Israel’s actions “aggressive” – adjectives that did not appear in the initial news report.

Following his stellar career in the NFL, Michael Strahan has become a fan favorite on Good Morning America.
He’s known for his days as an imposing defensive star with the New York Giants, often striking fear in his opponents’ hearts and minds.
He’s since moved on to a television career, joining Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos as the regular GMA co-anchors for the weekday episodes.
In addition, he appears on Sundays as an analyst with Fox NFL Sunday alongside co-stars, including Rob Gronkowski, Terry Bradshaw, and Howie Long.
It’s likely not often that something scares Michael on TV, although he recently reacted to one co-worker’s remarks that genuinely might have.
During an on-air discussion, he admitted that parts of what a co-star told him were “creeping [him] out.”

A coalition of eight daily newspapers have sued OpenAI and Microsoft for copyright infringement, expanding a growing front in the legal battle over the unauthorized use of articles to power artificial intelligence technology.
The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court on Tuesday, is at least the fourth complaint brought against the Sam Altman-led firm over copyright issues associated with training the automated chatbots that have vaulted the company to a multibillion-dollar valuation and sparked rivals to pour troves of cash into competing technology. It argues that thousands of their articles were used to train the AI systems that power ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and other products that now effectively compete against them.
The publishers — The New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Orlando Sentinel, South Florida Sun Sentinel, San Jose Mercury News, Denver Post, Orange County Register and St. Paul Pioneer Press — are all owned by investment firm Alden Global Capital.

San Francisco, June 22 (Ians) Microsoft has announced its roadmap for building its own quantum supercomputer that can solve impactful problems that even the most powerful supercomputers cannot.
To build the quantum supercomputer, Microsoft said that it “will follow a similar path as classical supercomputers did in the 20th century. From vacuum tubes to transistors, to integrated circuits, advances in underlying technology will enable scale and impact”.
According to the company, quantum hardware will fall into one of the three categories of Quantum Computing Implementation Levels, which include Level 1 — Foundational (Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum); Level 2 — Resilient (reliable logical qubits); and Level 3 — Scale (Quantum supercomputers).
Presently, Microsoft has achieved the first milestone towards a quantum supercomputer.

San Francisco, April 7 (Ians) Microsoft has announced that it is adding its new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered “Microsoft 365 Copilot” assistant to OneNote.
“As your notetaking partner, Copilot uses your prompts to draft plans, generate ideas, create lists, organise information, and more. Copilot can transform existing text by summarising, rewriting, formatting, and adding visual context,” said Greg Mace, a product manager for OneNote.
Moreover, the company said that this tool combines the power of large language models (LLMs) with users’ data from the Microsoft Graph — notes, calendars, emails, chats, documents, meetings, and more — and the Microsoft 365 apps to turn their words into a powerful productivity tool.
All of this is done in accordance with the company’s existing enterprise data security and privacy commitments.
Further, users can also ask the AI assistant to create a plan for an event or generate topics and talking points for meetings in OneNote.

New Delhi, Jan 26 (Ians) Microsoft-owned open source developer platform GitHub has reached 100 million members globally, and is growing fast in India too where it has crossed 10 million developers on the platform.
This makes the country the second largest developer community on GitHub, behind the US.
In 2015, almost a third of developers on GitHub were from North America.
Today, some of the fastest-growing regions are far away from the US, for example, in Southeast Asia, Africa, and South America.
“In India alone, more than 10 million developers use GitHub to build software. And in Brazil, over 3 million new developers use GitHub,” the company said.
If this user growth continues, GitHub predicts that users in India will match the current US GitHub developer population by 2025.
“This global exchange of ideas is helping democratise who a developer is, what they work on, and where they live. Developers today are committing code, contributing documentation,...

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom, as with most other fandoms, people have relationships they want to see happen. Shipping is a big part of fandom for some people, and often some of the most popular relationships are between characters that never get together officially in the canon. In the MCU, Steve and Natasha are both shipped in a variety of relationships since they are main and popular characters, and it’s also very common for them to be shipped together romantically.
