Carol's Second Act

I am not sure what people expect from a sitcom? It's amusing and light hearted, something enjoyable to watch and have a innocent laugh at. This is no different to other sitcoms that have lasted 4 or more seasons. What the one with one of her co-stars - "baby daddy" - it lasted 6 seasons! What about "Mom", "Bless this mess", "The neighborhood" etc, etc... I like them for what they are - i am not unintelligent - I like dramas, documentaries, romance, crime etc - I watch it all. But sometimes it's nice to sit and watch 20 minutes of harmless fun!! I don't expect hard hitting journalism when i pick up a gossip rag - realize what you are tuning in to and stop criticizing it like it's supposed to help you cure cancer!!! For those that want more intelligent writing for Patricia's character - did you watch Raymond? The Middle? I really think sitcoms are not for you. All sitcoms are stupid and unrealistic - an escape from the everyday world - so lighten up and just appreciate it's light hearted fun. It is a pity - i like the fact that they introduced Kelsey Grammar into the show.

Patricia makes the show interesting, her character but the others are annoying, every single one except for that mean lady in charge, she's interesting. Also the jokes about her being old is so redundanct, almost to the point of age discrimination. I'll still watch the show but hopes it gets better, if it wasn't for Patricia's acting the show would really suck.

I like Patricia Heaton, but the writers have her character acting too giddy, too foolish for a grown woman. The foolish behavior it too over the top for a mature woman.

Patricia Heaton is sooo likeable but that is the only reason to watch this - it is unfortunately cliched and corny. There is the occasional nice line but largely you will have seen this done before and done far better.

It is one-dimensional fare - there is no depth to it, no real craft and the laughter track will eventually irritate you into looking elsewhere for some entertainment...

A pity but this is not v good.

First, get rid of the laugh track. Second, make the characters people, not archetypes. Third, let a character besides Heaton have some wisdom. Fourth, get rid of the laugh track.

"Scrubs" did the medical interns-over-their-heads story better. Unfortunately, I don't see a lot of potential for this show to rise above its mediocre opening without a major overhaul.
