Google advertisement of cameras and lenses using the Pixel 3 technology. It takes digital images to a whole new level of spectacle bringing you close to
everything that's captured in great colors and beautiful details. Fine. But what the brand got as truly unique and a fascinating experience to be seen is the
mastermind behind the visual artistry concept is Terrence Malick and along with him there's his recent filmic background where the art of cinematography is a memorable, poetic and sensual gathering of moments that enhances his narrative.
Similar elements from "The Tree of Life", "To the Wonder" and more are all borrowed to make viewers to experience in high quality the amazing aspects from the product. Images of children playing, a loving couple on the ocean, and obviously many images from places, animals and nature that are elemental in all of Malick's films, filled with beauty, originality, magic in close-up shots, fast editing and a rainbow of detailed colors.
Mr. Malick has showed his craft in mesmerzing portrait, true works of art, both with film and digital cinematography woth with creative collaborators as his director of photography (Nestor Almendros, Emmanuel Lubezki, John Toll are some). For his poetical storytelling and image composition mostly filmed with natural light, little effects and at the magic hour, here what brings his fans close to his other works it's the way he presents everything which all makes it look as it were sequences cut out from his movies since he likes to show tiny yet significant moments of everything around him that is available to use. Example: a quick shot of a floating bubble on a building's rooftop with the city as background - the colors and characteristics of such scene resembles some moments from "Knight of Cups".
In short, it's a commercial without a story; a gathering of images that make a full and wide portrait of life moments, and all of those moments, if remembered, always will look better when you have a special equipment to capture everything and make art with what you want to register. 9/10
