    #FinalVerdict

The rules of entertainment are altering rapidly because Hindi movie heroine is now being looked up with strengths, shortcomings, mistakes and achievements. She is ready to conduct experiments, equipped to explore uncharted lands. This holds for Kangana Ranaut, one of the most talented actresses of our time. The famous actress has persistently paved the way vis-a-vis her choice of movies. Also, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari needs no introduction. With her debut film Nil Battey Sannata (2016), she had the audience sit up and take notice of her work. Panga, her latest offering, once again has you, as an audience, asking a question. Honestly, women's stories are not really exemplified conscientiously since Bollywood is branded for creating movies from a male perspective. But the souk of women-centric flicks is quickly turning out to be a bankable genre. Panga is a commanding tale, has an authoritative central character, has several dominant and thought-provoking moments, making it an all-persuasive film.

Panga is thought-provoking, articulate and clear. It brings the subject to light but Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari neither imposes her opinion on the audience nor do her characters. Each actor extends his or her arm within the ambit of their circumstances, never once attempting to go beyond it. That's the brilliance of this film. This is Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's trademark. She is like the music conductor who knows the symphony like the palm of her hand and directs every actor with the delicate swish of her experienced baton. Of course, the film is built on the classic theme that a talented athlete has a dream to place at the top of the stool at the big international tournaments, where the road to it is not just straightforward but full of bumps and dents that need to be forced, which puts both the psyche and the physics to a hard test. And then, of course, it turns out in the end that iron willpower can pave the way for the dream to come true. The director does manage to make an extremely worthwhile and quite entertaining film, packed with both dramatic and exciting moments.

It is absolutely amazing to experience how camera movement (Jay I. Patel), editing (Ballu Saluja), music (Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy) and other technical aspects of Panga blend together to form a cinematic experience that, in terms of quality, rises to a level where the entertainment value is of an entirely exceptional character. In terms of action, Panga is fantastic storytelling, where the story writers (Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Nikhil Mehrotra) have managed to convey a story through the visual media to an unparalleled degree and turned it into a gripping, captivating, educational and uplifting and one of a kind experience. The film in many areas is also deeply touching. Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari ensures that Panga retains its individuality and doesn't come across as a replica/clone of other immensely likeable films with sports drama as the backdrop. In fact, her handling of several light moments as well as dramatic ones is exemplary. With the skills of a master storyteller, she amalgamates a human story in a truly striking and attention-grabbing format. There is a certain uninhibited genuineness in Ashwiny's direction. Besides, the additional screenplay by Nitesh Tiwari is outstanding; one seldom witnesses such aptitude and deliberation to specifications. Without doubt, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari gives it her best shot with gleaming sincerity. There are a few hiccups, but not the type that really go against the film. However, the climax is the highpoint of this enterprise. Also, fragments of tongue in cheek humour pop up when you least anticipate to liven up the solemn plot.

The admiration for Kangana Ranaut has scaled woozy altitudes and let me affirm, the supremely talented actress delivers a performance that's at par with her former accomplishments. She re-evaluates screen acting in Panga. She arrives with yet another enlivening, commanding character in this film and her portrayal is sure to win laurels by assessors and cine-goers uniformly. Her body language, her confidence, her vulnerability, her fury, her grief, all fall upon wonderfully. Jassie Gill is a revelation. What a tremendous actor. His sequences with Kangana are truly wonderful. Neena Gupta proves yet again that she's an exceptional performer. She makes a stunning impact. Richa Chadha is, as always, efficient. She exhibits good screen presence and holds her ground firmly, despite Kangana's towering performance. She is exactly what the highly ranked coaches are made up of. Yagya Bhasin stands out with a terrific portrayal. He's is exceptional. Way to go, boy! Megha Burman shines as the young Kabbadi player.

On the whole, Panga raises questions, challenges the age-old customs and mirrors a reality most convincingly. A brilliant film embellished with bravura performances. The highs and lows, the triumphs and failures, the laughter and heartbreak... you smile, you laugh, you weep, you cheer, you feel ecstatic... Panga encompasses it all adroitly, with the finale leaving you exhilarated. Don't miss it for anything in the world. A film that deserves an ovation!

Kangana Ranaut takes Panga to the next level

Everyone has a dream in life. Few get to achieve in their first shot but for few, dreams are postponed, forgotten or even shattered as the life gets heavy. We forget to dream due to hectic schedule and responsibilities. Panga is a simple story well told with a strong message embedded deep within.

Panga tells the story of ex-Kabbadi player Jaya Nigam (Kangana Ranaut) who is happily settled in life as she takes the responsibility of a dutiful mother and a caring wife. However, deep down she is always reminded of pursuing her passion and finally gets the chance to crack her place into Indian Kabbadi team.

Directed by Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, who previously helmed the inspiring Nil Battey Sannata and romantic-comedy, Bareily Ki Barfi, collaborates with her husband, Nitesh Tiwari, who wrote the additional screenplay and dialogues. The result is fruitful as right from the beginning of the film, you will be completely engrossed into the beautiful tale of mother and her struggle to keep her dreams alive. Blended with sarcasm and light moments, the film is a powerful drama which will help you sail it through 2 hours 11 minutes without getting bored. Told in a subtle manner, it is the simplicity of narration which is the highlight of the film and you will cherish each and every frame. There are no glossy sets, colorful costumes over-the-tone melodrama yet the film is entertaining and will keep you glued throughout.

While Panga scores brownie points in few parts, it does suffer from the screenplay which could have tighter in few places. Panga being a sports drama, lacks the spirit and energy which should pump up your adrenaline rush. The transformation of Kangana Ranaut into a sports athlete, her practice sessions and ever her trial matches are completely cold. The only saving grace was the engaging climax match which again could have been classic (remember last scene of Dangal that brought down the house). I felt the background was light while none of songs were inspiring, considering it being sports film. Ashwin Iyer Tiwari does get the right elements but partially succeeds in executing them. Writing from the team of Bhoothnath Returns, Dangal and Chhichhore (Nitesh Tiwari and Nikhil Mehrorta) was good but could have been made into a well-scripted film. Technically, cinematography and art direction were just about okay while editing was fine.

Nevertheless, Panga rides on the shoulder of one of the best actresses of our time - Kangana Ranaut. Same time last year, she lived the character of Manikarnika-The Queen Of Jhansi. A year later, we see her as a mother who gets the second chance to live her dream. The extremely talented gets into skin of Jaya Nigam with aplomb and you will forget about Kangana Ranaut for few minutes. Jassi Gill does well as a supporting husband while the child actor was pretty good. I liked Neena Gupta and Richa Chaddha, though they could have better character defined for their roles.

Overall, Panga is a feel-good cinema with a strong and captivating message. Good 3/5

    LOVE Panga...

When I saw Panga's trailer - I was not impressed much. I found it to be a routine movie. But after the good reviews and rating from everywhere, I decided to go and see it. I love Kangana Ranaut. She is unusual, and brave. She has stood against the tide.

Panga is a story of a girl who was India Kabbadi's women's team captain, but left her sports career when she got pregnant. She devoted her life to her family - husband, son and her job - as a railway ticket counter clerk.

It was only after much ado - she was pushed by her son's desire to give a re-try to play kabbadi. That little effort to keep her son happy becomes a bigger desire to represent the Indian Kabbadi team again and play for India at International level.

The rest of the movie is about her and her family's struggle and support, the ups and downs of her journey to play for India again.

Does she succeed against all odds? She does.

Director and writer Ashwini Iyer Tiwari who was a working in advertising and who made Neel Batte Sannata earlier with Swara Bhaskar is in full form.

With a little bit of hesitation, but without taking credit away from her, it needs to be mentioned here that she is the wife of the Director Nitesh Tiwari who made Dangal and also has co-written the story, screenplay and dialogue of this movie. One cannot deny his role in her growth, but one cannot also take away any credit away from her as she is the honcho of this ship - Panga.

The movie presents the case of women's empowerment in a very subtle way - without much ado and fanfare or preachy lectures. The story and the everyday characters of the movie are woven with such ease that their response to each situation says a lot without a spoken words.

All credit to Kangana. She carries the film well on her shoulders. She stands like a giant - capturing the essence of the main protagonist Jaya Nigam. All the other actresses/ actors around her play best in their small yet well defined characters supporting the central character.

The winner of a movie is identified by the number of times it involuntarily makes our tears roll from our eyes. This movie touches the heart chords and makes us feel good within in the way the movie develops and grows from a slow-paced first half to the fast-forward of second-half and crescendo of an ending.

Special mention is given to Jessie Gill, who plays Kangana's soft and sweet and understanding husband. Richa Chaddha who plays Kangana's friend, Neena Gupta - Kangana's mother and Yagna Bhasin - Kangana' son have played their roles well.

The movie is a nice feel good movie that makes us go to the cinema halls.

I would go with 7.25 out of 10

Welcome to the Kangana show !!

Panga is a sports genre movie focusing on a sportsperson's comeback rather than the usual biopic or a team's targeted approach towards a tournament. Kangana Ranaut incredibly does it yet again in a memorable performance. Panga is a women's orientated movie which will inspire not only women but also some men.

Panga isn't perfect there are tons of loopholes in the screenplay and is riddled with flaws in almost all technical aspects, but the focus of the movie is inspiration, which I believe it does with flying colours. Yes, the screenplay is utterly predictable. Production design, editing, costumes and make up is just par. Cinematography could have been a little better especially for the sports scenes. But the idea of panga i believe is not to deliver these technical aspects but to deliver the story of a young woman's comeback after marriage & kids and to tell the audience, on really how hard it is to make such a comeback. All that Panga demands is to give the due respect, that such sportspersons deserve.

Kangana Ranaut in a terrific performance yet again, deserves a big round of applause. Richa Chaddha's goofy performance will steal hearts. Though a small role, Neena gupta's cameo will be remembered. All the other supporting actors played their part well. Overall Panga is a must watch movie for all women & in fact for entire families. Panga will not disappoint.
