Avis à la une
I have started watching Spanish movies and series lately and I have to admit they are amazing. Movies like "The Invisible Guest" and "Mirage" and series such as "Elite" and "La Casa de Papel" were great so seeing Maria Pedraza and Jaime Lorente from both "La Casa de Papel" and "Elite" in this movie immediately made it a "must watch" for me.
At first the story seemed interesting and the characters as well, and knowing from the plot that there is a secret to be revealed I was on the edge of my seat.
Once the secret was revealed, it felt like it under-delivered I didn't get the shock sense and in my opinion it was not such a big deal that the whole plot of the money would be based on it.
The ending felt realistic in a way, but the movie had a bland feeling to it, even the great acting couldn't save it.

An average plot written with a somehow slow beginning turns into a surprisingly good story with details to remember and ideas that stay with the viewer aferwards. The fantastic performances by the four protagonists is the main asset of the movie. Still, the fact that 3 out of 4 of them played in Casa de Papel and Elite might draw the wrong fanbase; this one is nothing like any of them so, if you expect something like this, be prepared.
Strong performances from the four main characters, although it seems to have been shot on a limited budget. I spent the first hour just wondering if I was watching a slice-of-life piece, but by the end, I realized that there were clues that helped the ending make sense. The fever pitch of emotion near the end takes its roots in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and "Boys in the Band." The perils of playing "Truth." The ending is peaceful and it makes sense, drawing on everything leading up to it. But I longed for "heart" over "head."
The plotline left a little to be desired from your stray audiences from other shows, but if treated as is, with no expectation, it's quite good. I keep thinking about this movie.
I found this a few days ago on Netflix as I was looking for movies to practice my Spanish. I liked it immediately, the cultural aspect - the way Spaniards interact vs Canadians or Americans/English. I lived in Hollywood for years and used to help some of my friends (some are famous actors) prepare for their roles. So I know how to spot a good actor - and this little movie is full of them. It develops slowly compared to Manic and predictable yet empty Hollywood movies, but that is what I like to see because it reflects reality. The twist was quite shocking to me in a good way - it really surprised me. I loved the drunk arguments which reminded me of a movie I saw long ago with my friend's grandmother playing a wife of a professor I think (Who's afraid of Virginia Wolf I think is the name). I loved it and I watched it several times actually (which I normally do only with Almadovar's movies). I have never seen any of these actors before. Very refreshing especially if you are fed up with boring Hollywood manic predictable sameness. Music was not bad but at at times too revealing of what's to come next. And I found a couple of long discussions a bit predictable and over the top - but overall I recommend it - and I showed some bits to couple of friends and they wanted to watch it (but we had to go) - I am definitely going to watch it again. Reminds me of my student life in London and of many good and funny things I have done. I like how the approach to the story is as different to predictable Will and Grace nonsense as possible. Very Spanish/European - refreshingly very different from toxic mania of Hollywood.
