Avis à la une
We need more movies like this one, and far less of all the negative 'whoopie, we're all terrible people, so let's all get killed' junk Hollywood is so fond of these days. I read many of the negative reviews before I watched this film, one the entire family could enjoy, and that's what moved this movie to the top of my 'watch this next' list. Glad I did. Well written, acted, directed, and with an outstanding soundtrack.
No token characters, so if you're expecting to find an LGBT character, or a minority where one wouldn't normally expect one to be present, or a car chase, explosion, shoot-out, bad cops, or any of the other Hollywood tropes we're seeing elsewhere, or anything else coming off the assembly line.
This is a fine mix of established veteran actors and new young fresh faces presenting a story that has a great deal of depth. If you don't come away feeling good about the world after this one, go find yourself a mental health expert. You're clinically depressed, and in need of help.
More of this, please.

A sweet little film full of likeable characters. It was about as realistic as a Hallmark movie, but not half as schmaltzy. The two lead actors weren't anyone I've heard of, but I like that sometimes: to encounter characters that haven't been filtered through some famous person's ego. Not that this was exactly high drama, mind you, but a pleasant way to waste 2 hours. Vanessa Redgrave's role was minor, but she classes up anything she's in.
My Review - Finding You
My Rating 8/10 How refreshing to watch a movie on a Cinema Screen that's uplifting and entertaining I didn't hear the "F" word once everyone kept their gear on and the script was intelligent and humorous.
Sound boring ? I wasn't bored for a minute and any film that features the glorious Irish countryside and culture usually is like a Pot o' Gold for me at the end of the Rainbow so it must be my Irish Ancestry .
I rate films with the same formula doesn't matter the genre whether they're great Adventure Epics , Romantic Comedies , Crime or Sci Fi Thrillers or Contemporary Dramas . I ask these questions 1- Did the story interest me ? Were the Characters interesting and well acted ? Was it well directed and most importantly was I able to relate emotionally to the Screenwriter and Directors vision?
The Director and Screenwriter of "Finding You."is Brian Baugh I'm not familiar with his work but will be keen to see more if it's as entertaining as this film.
Some lovely performances in "Finding You" it's a simple plot Finley Sinclair ( Rose Reid) is a talented aspiring violinist who's failed yet another important audition so travels to Ireland to rethink her aspirations. She meets Beckett, (Jedidiah Goodacre) a famous young movie star, on the way to her college semester abroad program in a small coastal village in Ireland. An unexpected romance emerges as the heartthrob Beckett leads the uptight Finley on an adventurous reawakening, and she emboldens him to take charge of his future, until the pressures of his stardom get in the way.
The two romantic leads who I've never heard of Rose Reid and Jedidiah Goodacre are a charming movie match . Rose Reid as the violinist Finley Sinclair who's tracing her deceased brothers pilgrimage to Ireland in search for answers to her own issues gives a delightful and fresh performance.
Jedidiah Goodacre is charismatic and also not known to me cast as Finley Sinclair's famous hunk movie star turned and self elected tour guide between filming his dragon slayer latest epic. Their friendship grows after a bumpy start and Finley's total disinterested and untrusting attitude to his lifestyle and hangers on.
The cherry on top of the cake for me in "Finding You "is Vanessa Redgrave as Cathleen Sweeney an old woman with "attitude " who Finley is reluctantly assigned to read and keep company in Cathleen's final days to obtain her degree.
Generations collide at first but as Cathleen's story develops Finley sets off on a mission to try and resolve bitter family resentments to help Cathleen's end of life wish happen.
It goes without saying that Vanessa Redgrave is one of the finest actresses to ever stand in front of a camera her long film career from the early 1960's till today has some of the finest moments on the screen. Like her contemporary Glenda Jackson she still has that magic ability to be totally immersed and convincing in any role.
In "Finding You." Vanessa Redgrave is totally believable as an old Irish woman ,who even though frail and ill is witty ,wise and so touching her performance is dignified not depressing at all .
The other delights in "Finding You" a film based on a 2011 young adult novel There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones are the Irish music and culture as well as the delightful scenery . The film was shot in Ireland, in and around Dublin, Clare, Offaly, Kildare, Cooley and Carlingford, Co. Louth.
If you like good storytelling and a convincing cast of actors who know their craft I think you'll enjoy "Finding You" it's a great companion film to "Wild Mountain Thyme" I actually enjoyed this movie more .

(unless they are really good, like Roman Holiday). So at the first 10min of this movie I was like "Uugh" another BS teenie romance; also I didn't like the 2 protagonists.
But then I kept watching and the film changed my mind. Simply because the story is good. It's basically a romance, but with many subplots and each of them is interesting and woven into the love story, so that the success of each little story depends on the main plot. That is so obvious that it's kind of a new take.
The movie certainly is aimed at younger audiences, so if you are a girl or into romance or just wanna relax or maybe watch a movie where you can turn off your brain for a while (I'm not saying it's a stupid movie), then give it a shot, for that I would recommend it.
(The real rating would be 7/10, but since the movie is underrated and quite entertaining I gave it a 8.)

Sweet, fresh love story that takes places on the beautiful Irish coast, Finding You takes you on a journey of young romance that your heart won't soon forget.
Le saviez-vous
- AnecdotesRose Reid on whether she could play the violin: "I would definitely not call myself proficient, at least not to the extent that Finley is by far. I played 'Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star', and that was it," she says with a laugh. "But we spent three months, countless hours every other day with a violin coach and kind of worked our way up to being able to play the songs that you see me playing on screen."
- GaffesAt the airport Seamus has a bandaged hand; when they arrive at the house, it's no longer bandaged, and from then on the bandage comes and goes.
