Canadian telecom provider Rogers has announced a new skinny pay television package that includes access to free, ad-supported streaming TV (Fast) channels and Netflix as part of the service.

The bundle, called App TV, includes around two dozen live television channels — Rogers puts the amount closer to 40, but appears to include regional networks in that count — and 20 Fast channels, as well as access to Netflix’s ad-supported plan. The service is powered by Rogers Xfinity TV, the pay TV service rebranded from Rogers Ignite last year.

Discovery’s streamer Max is the latest to make this attempt, having rolled out its new Rewind feature to show viewers what they watched most this year.

HBO has joined the movement of providing users with a year-end overview of everything they watched in 2024, with the launch of the Spotify Wrapped-like campaign “Max Rewind.”

“Your 2024 Rewind is here,” the official Instagram page for Max posted on Thursday. “Open your Max app to see how you spent your year streaming.”

The campaign has been described as a “shareable and colorful lookback” at users’ “watch history and community trends throughout the year,” per reports. Max users with adult profiles will have access to their personal viewing information through in-app notifications from the streamer.

As Max reportedly details, “Each user will be assigned a character according to their watch history and will be given access to a curated collection page of recommendations for each Max character. Other elements that will be shared in the rewind include a subscriber’s top brand and genre, Max’s seasonal title highlights, their viewing pattern and top avatars.

Max is wrapping up the year with the release of a new "year in review" feature for subscribers. Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming platform – which includes Discovery, CNN, Adult Swim, TCM, and Investigation Discovery, among others – is joining the ranks of Spotify, Apple Music, and PlayStation by creating a personalized end-of-year wrap-up for its users.

According to a Variety exclusive, "Max Rewind" will officially launch on Thursday, Dec. 19 (that's today) and will be available for all adult profiles on Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming app through an in-app notification. In order to access Max Rewind, you'll need to log in through the app on your TV or mobile device.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is all set to bring back the true Call of Duty experience with its exciting multiplayer and zombies modes. In an official blog post, Activision has revealed 16 different multiplayer maps along with its brand new zombies map called Terminus Island. Indeed, these new maps are exciting but many diehard fans of the franchise were expecting to see one classic map from the Black Ops franchise: Raid.

After the disastrous critical failure of Modern Warfare 3 for the Call of Duty franchise, Treyarch has returned to redeem this IP with what may be one of the best installments in many years of mediocre to average entries.

Currently, the Black Ops 6 open multiplayer beta is live, and it seems that all the changes the studio has made to the game are paying off, with fans more than satisfied with the results. New features like omni-movement, weapon adjustments, new game modes, and other additions are exciting players.

The International Documentary Association (IDA) on Tuesday announced its best feature and short shortlists for the 2023 IDA Documentary Awards.

The ceremony will be held during the week of Dec. 11 in Los Angeles — venue information is set to follow. Starting Nov. 7, IDA members will be able to view each of the shortlisted films on IDA Virtual Cinema, and up to 10 nominees from each category will be selected. The nominees will be announced on Nov. 21.

“The 39th IDA Documentary Awards continues the tradition of celebrating the best of international nonfiction media of the year,” said Ken Ikeda, IDA’s interim executive director. “This year’s best feature documentary and best short documentary shortlists reflect important work from twenty-one countries. We are excited to celebrate the work of our community and present winners this December in Los Angeles.”

280 documentary filmmakers, curators, critics and industry experts from 40 countries selected the shortlists. IDA received 669 total submissions from 48 countries.
