Well Done

What an enjoyable series. So many different angles were covered. As a young N. Y. C. Club going guy in the late 80's and 90's it was so touching to see all of the Nelson Sullivan clips being used in such an effective way. They tell a story all by themselves when you watch them on you tube. But here they are interwoven so well to fit into the narrative.

I don't know who or where from these nasty low ratings are coming from. Did they actually even watch the series? Is it just holy rollers being spiteful?

Pride is the perfect example of how documentaries can be fun and interesting and actually teach without being dry or boring.

Really liked this

Learning about LGBTQ history and also focusing on BLM and Transness. That's what progress looks like. Really liked it! It's still a lot to do for the LGBTQ+community and we should do that together!

Kind of a Summary of LGBT Pivotal Docs and Moments

Almost like combining tidbits of all the pivotal LGBTQ docs into one series. I don't know how someone who hasn't seen the docs would appreciate/learn it all but at least the stories are being told again. Nothing too new otherwise. I'm honestly just glad they highlighted Nelson Sullivan and gave him the recognition he deserves. He was a gift.

Queer history

Such a wonderful look at queer history particularly little known people & events! Gave me some hope that we could truly move toward absolute equity for all humans!

Inclusive and Informative

The cinematography was excellent. This is by far the most inclusive story telling about gay pride in America that I have seen this far. I learned so much about the history of gay life and gay rights in America, the struggles these Americans have endured and overcome. The narration and inclusion of short films and narration made every story more personal and easier to connect with. This is a great film. I highly recommend it.

Powerful and Informative

PRIDE, the docuseries on Hulu, is wonderful! I came out of the closet 30 years ago this year, but still have a lot to learn about the roots of my community. The series is informative and powerful!

It is revolting that there are homophobes on this site causing the rating of this amazing docuseries to be so low.

Super-mediocre

The 60s and 70s episodes are more or less ok, but the 80s episode is historically offensive. There is hardly any analysis of the AIDS crisis and instead of focusing on the huge amount of material that is available it goes back and forth to the present, mixing and matching topics and essentially avoiding the biggest crisis in recent queer history. It is heart-breaking that we still cannot truly look at this time and dissect it historically properly. Perhaps the trauma is too recent, but we really ought to. And this documentary really has failed to produce anything of value to do with the 80s. Avoid.

Too much focus on blm.

I could barely connect with this series as a gay man, because of the troubles with the us and the extreme focus on black vs white.

This was supposed to show the progress of the LGBTQ+ community and the world but it was just dragged down by the struggle of black people in the us.

No Progression...

Focuses too much on the activism, doesn't show the results of the activism to educate the viewer who may be unaware of what was accomplished through activism.

Way to narrowly focused

It seems gay men especially white ones were just background figures. If you weren't trans, black or Lesbian, then you're not part of Pride history that's depicted in this series.

Subjective Look Back

Watching this documentary series the viewer might think gay men were a tiny minority who did nothing for the gay rights movement, and trans people formed the majority. What a slap in the face to all the gay men who risked everything at a time when they could have been arrested and lost their careers for just being gay, or worse, beaten up or killed. What was interesting was that in spite of being heavy on exaggerating the importance of trans women of colour in the history of gay rights, the inclusion of archival footage made it clear that the narrative was pure fiction because all the footage clearly showed that it was mainly gay, lesbian and bi people who did the heavy lifting.

sad

Just so sad that gay people etc are portrayed that way. The media makes us even more shallow than people already think.
