Bad news for fans of Amazon Prime Video's "Motorheads" as the streamer has decided not to move forward with a second season of the show. The YA series premiered on Prime Video back in May and has remained in the streamer's top 10 most-watched shows ever since. Even so, the brass decided it wasn't worth the squeeze, so the series is joining the likes of "Paper Girls" as Amazon shows that were canceled after one season. But why, exactly, was it canceled? And is there any hope for the future?

It's always a little worrying when weeks go by without word about a new show. Is it cancelled? Is it coming back? Motorheads premiered over two months ago, and despite a positive reception with Season 1 rated fresh at 78% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Prime Video has yet to renew the show for Season 2. Deadline caught up with the streamer's Head of TV, Vernon Sanders, and discussed their current slate of young adult dramas. They also asked about the status of Motorheads Season 2. While Sanders did not reveal whether the show would return, his comments about it were encouraging. Many shows suffer the fate of lack of completion, but not Motorheads. Vernon revealed that the streamer was seeing some good completion rates, which is always a positive sign. He explained:
"Motorheads has just really sort of resonated with us and struck us. What I’ve been excited to see on that...

If you’re going to see I Know What You Did Last Summer this weekend, be sure to stick around for an end-credit scene.
“Don’t miss the credits,” Jennifer Love Hewitt teased Extra. “It could be a popcorn moment, it could be a death, or it could just be something really fun — but don’t miss it.”
Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. reprise their roles from the 1997 slasher alongside Madelyn Cline (“Outer Banks”), Chase Sui Wonders (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid), Tyriq Withers (Him), and Sarah Pidgeon (“The Wilds”).
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Do Revenge) directs from a script she co-wrote with Sam Lansky, based on a story by Robinson and Leah McKendrick (M.F.A.).

Amy B. Harris, the showrunner for Amazon’s Prime Video series The Wilds, is grabbing the reins for the platform’s Every Summer After adaptation, titled Every Year After, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Harris, who has an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios, will take over for Leila Gerstein as Every Year After showrunner; Gerstein has exited over “creative differences,” a person with knowledge of the situation said.
Reps for Gerstein did not immediately respond to THR’s request for comment.
Every Year After is based on the New York Times-bestselling novel Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. The story is told over the course of six years and a week in the (real) quintessential lake town Barry’s Bay.
“It’s a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever,” Amazon says. Barry’s Bay is in rural Ontario, where Fortune spent much of her youth.

If one were to rank all the major streaming services by queerness, Amazon Prime Video would be a pretty tough one to pin down.
On the one hand, you have to give credit where credit is due: One of the service’s very first stabs at original programming was “Transparent,” which in turn was one of the first shows to star a trans main character. That show now has a lot of baggage, but it’s hard to understate its historical significance.
Beyond the thorny topic of “Transparent,” Prime Video does have a good track record of releasing shows with LGBTQ characters and centering their narratives on queer themes; in particular, many of their shows focus on queer women, refreshingly avoiding the centering of gay men that defined queer TV for decades. In 2023, the streamer dropped a phenomenal limited series retelling of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers,” starring Rachel Weisz as twin lesbian gynecologists.

Using the soap opera for teen dramas is a hallmark of television. In a way, Netflix has weaponized the format to create a dozen shows that fill the void that traditional TV left for the target audience. Ginny & Georgia, entering its third season, continues to combine small-town life with a wild killing spree on the side. While the mother and daughter run from the past, it seems the cyclical nature of life continues to throw them curveballs. With a murder trial, a mayoral campaign, and the shifting moods of the town, Ginny & Georgia has the narrative beats to be a fun show. Unfortunately, it’s not always a good one.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 Plot
To kick off Season 3, Ginny & Georgia picks up in the immediate aftermath of Georgia’s (Brianne Howey) arrest, and the town of Wellsbury turns against her. Georgia’s new husband, Mayor Paul...

Ryan Murphy has given us chills so far with American Horror Story, courtroom drama with American Crime Story, and even sports scandals with American Sports Story. However, the creator is about to show us romance with a feel of everything that has been said before. The upcoming FX series American Love Story, starring Naomi Watts, will show the tragic story of one of America’s most popular couples in the ’90s.
The story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was almost like a fairytale, but because of heavy media scrutiny, it was not without rumors and controversy. It has everything a filmmaker would love to work on, but it also raises the question of how closely the series will stick to real life. Let’s explore.

The Alien franchise is stepping into new territory with a television series that promises to deliver the same heart-pounding horror fans love. Set on our planet for the first time, this show dives into a world where humanity’s curiosity leads to a terrifying encounter. It’s a fresh take on the iconic sci-fi universe, blending gritty survival with corporate intrigue.
Noah Hawley, known for his work on ‘Fargo’ and ‘Legion,’ is leading the charge as creator, writer, and director. His vision leans heavily on the retro-futuristic vibe of the 1979 ‘Alien’ film, steering clear of the mythology introduced in ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Alien: Covenant.’ Expect practical effects, claustrophobic tension, and a story that feels like a natural extension of the original classic.

The maniacal fisherman may be out for blood in Jennifer Kaytin Robinson’s I Know What You Did Last Summer, but Freddie Prinze Jr. is out here to slay. Included in the lineup of first-look images for this summer at the cinema, USA Today snatched a new look at the actor’s return to the slasher franchise, which sees him reprise a role from nearly three decades ago. And — spoiler alert — he’s just as much of a babe as ever, quite like his co-star, Jennifer Love Hewitt, who will also go face-to-face with the brutal killer once again in Robinson’s upcoming flick.

In 1997, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. were the only survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre in I Know What You Did Last Summer. Almost 30 years later, they return in the upcoming legacy sequel.
I Know What You Did Last Summer has Jennifer Kaytin Robinson at the helm, with a slightly different angle. While the original film followed four friends whose mistakes come back to haunt them one year later, the legacy sequel follows five friends dealing with the consequences of their actions following a deadly car accident. Ahead of the film's release, Sony Pictures officially unveiled the first trailer, giving a glimpse at the new cast and the legacy characters played by Hewitt and Prinze.
"When five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, they cover up their involvement and make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences," the legacy sequel's official longline reads.

Almost 30 years later and finally, we might actually know what happened that one summer…

Hulu's upcoming Murdaugh Murders series is rounding out its cast. The most recent additions include Reacher's Johnny Berchtold and A Complete Unknown's Will Harrison.
The Murdaugh Murders is based on the true story of Alex Murdaugh, who was jailed for killing his wife, Maggie, and 22-year-old son, Paul. The series is also said to be using information from journalist and podcaster Mandy Matney. Ridley Scott's iconic Alien film has spawned a franchise of Xenomorph-fronted films and a bevy of loyal fans. And now the house that Ripley built is headed to the small screen under the tutelage of Fargo and Legion creator, Noah Hawley, with Alien: Earth. In a new clip that was first shared with shareholders during a spectacle-laden call for shareholders with Disney CEO, Bob Iger, the tension and stakes of the original films feels alive and well — though that may be the only thing alive by the time the titular alien arrives on our planet.
The series, which also recently had a new trailer revealed at SXSW, is said to follow a young woman (played by Sydney Chandler) and a "ragtag group of tactical soldiers" who make "a fateful discovery" after "a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth ... that puts them face-to-face with the planet's greatest threat." TV is always looking for blossoming new audiences, and it seems that teenagers are exactly the demographic networks are looking for. Teen dramas often focus on a lot of themes, especially romance, meaning that some shows tend to be close replicas of their predecessors. However, in the last 5 years, teen dramas have experienced an exponential rise in popularity.
Judging by the nature of these modern dramas, it's evident that the young audience wants more out of TV. Now that they can stream a collection of unique shows with the touch of a button, certain producers are now forced to up their game. Thus, it seems that the 2020s is the decade for all things young.

School Spirits will conclude its second season on Paramount+ in March, leaving just a few episodes left to go as the story continues to build up towards the finale. While the wait for episode 206 will be just a little longer, Cbr can exclusively unveil a sneak peek clip.
In the clip, Maddie (Peyton List) and the others begin to grow weary over the absence of Janet Hamilton (Jess Gabor). The tension is broken when visitors in "murder vans" arrive at the school, but this doesn't bring the answers that the group is expecting. Fans will have to check out the episode in full to see what happens when it starts streaming on Paramount+ on Feb. 20. For now, the new clip can be viewed below.

Quick LinksWhy Prime Video Canceled The Wilds After Season 2The Original 4-Season Pitch for The Wilds
Before there was Yellowjackets, there was The Wilds, but without cannibalism. The Wilds was the first young adult series to premiere on Amazon Prime Video as part of a new initiative ushered in by Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke. Whereas the series found its footing in the first season, Season 2's underwhelming performance elicited a cancelation.
The Wilds is a tame mix between Lost and Yellowjackets with a social experiment twist. The series follows a group of teenage girls who crash-land on a deserted island, unaware that they're a part of a social experiment. The girls' long stay on the island opens a plethora of secrets about their pasts and inner selves that brings them together or pushes them apart. Exclusive: Grammy-nominated rapper Logic has boarded dark heist comedy Above the Line as an executive producer.
Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.
The dark comedy tapping into Hollywood angst is the second feature of writer, director, and producer Jeffrey Scott Collins, after debut Poor Greg Drowning.
Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who are roped into a harebrained plan to steal the Best Picture awards of a despised producer who has screwed each of them over as they struggle to make it big.
The film stars Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood and The Last O.G.), Sophia Ali (Uncharted and The Wilds), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan, Reno Wilson, John Way and Jamie Lee (Crashing).
Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.
“I have been a massive fan of the project ever since Michael sent me the script,” said Logic. “Jsc and I have a mutual love for the dark noir comedies of the 90s that have influenced this project. I’ve loved infusing my creative input into this film, and the music in it, and I can’t wait for the world to see it on the big screen.”
Collins said the collaboration worked on a number of levels.
“His music is not only bold, edgy, and incredibly entertaining, which is what we are striving for with this film, but his albums have always had an impressive cinematic quality to them, which I’m drawn to,” he said.
“He is a huge cinephile, and nerd, and the world will soon see how talented he is as a filmmaker. His creative input on the script, the characters, as well as the music, has been invaluable and we couldn’t be more excited about his and Michael’s involvement in the film”.
Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on first feature Poor Greg Drowning, as well as the movie Why Him?, will also serve as Executive Producer. Other Executive Producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.

Writer/director Parker Finn’s sequel to his 2022 horror film Smile (read our review Here, watch the movie Here) reached theatres last month, with JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray praising the film as “one of the year’s best horror movies” in his 9/10 review. The movie has been doing well at the box office, pulling in about $132 million worldwide so far, and now we know when Smile 2 is going to be available to watch in the comfort of our own homes: Paramount is giving the film a digital release tomorrow, November 19th!
Smile was based on Finn’s short film Laura Hasn’t Slept (watch it Here), which won the Special Jury Recognition Prize in SXSW’s Midnight Short category. Caitlin Stasey (Neighbours) played the title character in that short, and reprises the role in Smile, making it a follow-up of sorts. Smile has the following synopsis: After witnessing a bizarre,...

The movie has been doing well at the box office, pulling in $110 million worldwide so far, and now Paramount has decided to pull a new marketing stunt: as reported by Deadline, Paramount will let you watch the first 7 minutes of Smile 2 on this website – but to do so, you’ll have to smile into your webcam for the duration. As Deadline notes, “anywhere between a light smile to a full-out Cheshire Cat leer” will do. “If you’re thinking that you can somehow outsmart the tech, think again: The webpage, which flashes your image green upon smiling, expeditiously changes to flash a red outline at the drop of the smile.

Nintendo doesn't always do direct sequels with the Zelda series, but Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the few in the series, directly following 2017's Game of the Year winner, Breath of the Wild. These versions of both Link and Zelda are very popular, after all, and seeing more of them could be a great way to capitalize on their recent success.
Tears of the Kingdom ends in a similar place to Breath of the Wild too, with Princess Zelda back on the throne, presumably as the queen, with Link by her side. The villain is defeated, everything is right with the world and Link even gets his old arm back, so it isn't as though the...
