It's always a little worrying when weeks go by without word about a new show. Is it cancelled? Is it coming back? Motorheads premiered over two months ago, and despite a positive reception with Season 1 rated fresh at 78% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Prime Video has yet to renew the show for Season 2. Deadline caught up with the streamer's Head of TV, Vernon Sanders, and discussed their current slate of young adult dramas. They also asked about the status of Motorheads Season 2. While Sanders did not reveal whether the show would return, his comments about it were encouraging. Many shows suffer the fate of lack of completion, but not Motorheads. Vernon revealed that the streamer was seeing some good completion rates, which is always a positive sign. He explained:

"Motorheads has just really sort of resonated with us and struck us. What I’ve been excited to see on that...

Amy B. Harris, the showrunner for Amazon’s Prime Video series The Wilds, is grabbing the reins for the platform’s Every Summer After adaptation, titled Every Year After, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Harris, who has an overall deal at Amazon MGM Studios, will take over for Leila Gerstein as Every Year After showrunner; Gerstein has exited over “creative differences,” a person with knowledge of the situation said.

Reps for Gerstein did not immediately respond to THR’s request for comment.

Every Year After is based on the New York Times-bestselling novel Every Summer After by Carley Fortune. The story is told over the course of six years and a week in the (real) quintessential lake town Barry’s Bay.

“It’s a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that mark us forever,” Amazon says. Barry’s Bay is in rural Ontario, where Fortune spent much of her youth.

Just in time for 4th of July Weekend, tickets for I Know What You Did Last Summer are now on sale, and yes, we’re getting an official popcorn bucket for the new slasher movie!

In addition to putting tickets up for grabs on their website, Regal has revealed that I Know What You Did Last Summer is getting an official “popcorn tackle box,” of course themed to the franchise’s hook-handed killer known as the “Fisherman.” Branded with a “Southport Fishing & Tackle” logo, the limited edition popcorn bucket also celebrates the 4th of July.

Additionally, I Know What You Did Last Summer color-changing collectible cups are coming soon to theaters, and they look to feature figural toppers depicting both the Fisherman and the slasher villain’s iconic hook. Look for a Collectible Combo to be offered up in theaters soon.

The ’90s slasher franchise I Know What You Did Last Summer returns to theaters in less than one month with a brand new movie, and it marks the return of original legacy characters Julie James and Ray Bronson. If one were to rank all the major streaming services by queerness, Amazon Prime Video would be a pretty tough one to pin down.

On the one hand, you have to give credit where credit is due: One of the service’s very first stabs at original programming was “Transparent,” which in turn was one of the first shows to star a trans main character. That show now has a lot of baggage, but it’s hard to understate its historical significance.

Beyond the thorny topic of “Transparent,” Prime Video does have a good track record of releasing shows with LGBTQ characters and centering their narratives on queer themes; in particular, many of their shows focus on queer women, refreshingly avoiding the centering of gay men that defined queer TV for decades. In 2023, the streamer dropped a phenomenal limited series retelling of David Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers,” starring Rachel Weisz as twin lesbian gynecologists.

Hulu's upcoming Murdaugh Murders series is rounding out its cast. The most recent additions include Reacher's Johnny Berchtold and A Complete Unknown's Will Harrison.

The Murdaugh Murders is based on the true story of Alex Murdaugh, who was jailed for killing his wife, Maggie, and 22-year-old son, Paul. The series is also said to be using information from journalist and podcaster Mandy Matney. Per Variety, Berchtold and Harrison will be joining Patricia Arquette and Jason Clarke as the titular Murdaughs, while J. Smith Cameron has been cast as Marian Proctor.

Harrison will appear in the series as Buster Murdaugh. "The golden boy of the Murdaugh family, Buster's well on his way to following in the legal footsteps of his father Alex, and grandfather, Randolph," the official character description reads. "Buster's also the apple of his mother Maggie's eye, a lifelong source of tension with his younger brother Paul.

Hulu’s upcoming scripted series about the infamous Murdaugh family has cast both Will Harrison and Johnny Berchtold, Variety has learned exclusively.

Previously, it was reported that both Patricia Arquette and Jason Clarke would lead the series as Maggie and Alex Murdaugh, while J. Smith Cameron will star as Marian Proctor. Ahead of their CinemaCon presentation on Monday, Sony Pictures has debuted the first official poster for their upcoming slasher sequel I Know What You Did Last Summer and it teases the return of a familiar hook.

While we'll have to wait until this summer to find out who's wielding the hook, we do now that the movie will feature the return of both Jennifer Love Hewitt as Julie James and Freddie Prinze Jr. as Ray Bronson. The duo starred together in the 1997 horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer and its 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

Variety has learned from sources that Sarah Pidgeon has been cast in one of the lead roles for the upcoming anthology series, which was originally announced in 2021. As previously reported, the first season of the series will focus on John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Pidgeon will star as Bessette.

Reps for 20th Television and FX declined to comment.

Bessette was raised in New York and Connecticut. After a brief modeling career, she went on to rise through the ranks at Calvin Klein, eventually working as director of publicity and dealing with the brand’s celebrity clients in New York. School Spirits will conclude its second season on Paramount+ in March, leaving just a few episodes left to go as the story continues to build up towards the finale. While the wait for episode 206 will be just a little longer, Cbr can exclusively unveil a sneak peek clip.

In the clip, Maddie (Peyton List) and the others begin to grow weary over the absence of Janet Hamilton (Jess Gabor). The tension is broken when visitors in "murder vans" arrive at the school, but this doesn't bring the answers that the group is expecting. Fans will have to check out the episode in full to see what happens when it starts streaming on Paramount+ on Feb. 20. For now, the new clip can be viewed below.

Exclusive: Grammy-nominated rapper Logic has boarded dark heist comedy Above the Line as an executive producer.

Logic’s producing partner Michael Holland also joins the project as co-executive producer.

The dark comedy tapping into Hollywood angst is the second feature of writer, director, and producer Jeffrey Scott Collins, after debut Poor Greg Drowning.

Described as combining the world of Swingers with the sensibility of Pulp Fiction, the L.A.-based comedy follows six Hollywood hopefuls who are roped into a harebrained plan to steal the Best Picture awards of a despised producer who has screwed each of them over as they struggle to make it big.

The film stars Cedric The Entertainer (The Neighborhood and The Last O.G.), Sophia Ali (Uncharted and The Wilds), Gregg Henry (Guardians of the Galaxy and Raising Cain), Adhir Kalyan, Reno Wilson, John Way and Jamie Lee (Crashing).

Collins directed the film from a script he co-wrote with Jono Matt. Ian Michaels (of America’s Burning) produced the film under the banner of Green Step Productions, plus Kemma Filby & Walker Barnes (of Bob Trevino Likes It) under the banner of Seasick Studios. Collins also produced under his production banner, This Seems Reel Entertainment.

“I have been a massive fan of the project ever since Michael sent me the script,” said Logic. “Jsc and I have a mutual love for the dark noir comedies of the 90s that have influenced this project. I’ve loved infusing my creative input into this film, and the music in it, and I can’t wait for the world to see it on the big screen.”

Collins said the collaboration worked on a number of levels.

“His music is not only bold, edgy, and incredibly entertaining, which is what we are striving for with this film, but his albums have always had an impressive cinematic quality to them, which I’m drawn to,” he said.

“He is a huge cinephile, and nerd, and the world will soon see how talented he is as a filmmaker. His creative input on the script, the characters, as well as the music, has been invaluable and we couldn’t be more excited about his and Michael’s involvement in the film”.

Cedric The Entertainer, who has worked with Collins on first feature Poor Greg Drowning, as well as the movie Why Him?, will also serve as Executive Producer. Other Executive Producers include Joe Grano, Ned Kisner, and Lan Kisner.

Paramount+ today revealed the official trailer and premiere date for season two of its hit original drama series School Spirits. Produced by Awesomeness TV, the new season will debut on Thursday, January 30, with three episodes in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.

The season will also launch exclusively on Paramount+ in the UK and Australia on January 31, and later in the year in additional markets. Following the premiere, new episodes of the eight-episode season will be available to stream weekly on Thursdays, on Paramount+.

At long last, the first look at Noah Hawley’s upcoming “Alien” series has arrived. The highly anticipated “Alien: Earth” will premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025.

“In 2020, Mother Earth is expecting,” a voiceover in the first teaser says. After showing an image of Earth moving and morphing, the camera then pans down to the darkness below the planet to reveal a Xenomorph. As the creature screams, the teaser cuts to a staticky transmission before revealing the name of this upcoming sci-fi thriller.

Nintendo doesn't always do direct sequels with the Zelda series, but Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the few in the series, directly following 2017's Game of the Year winner, Breath of the Wild. With the success of both the games, and the arrival of the Switch 2 soon, Nintendo has the opportunity to do something extraordinarily rare in the franchise and make a Wilds trilogy. Agatha All Along is shaping up to be one of the best new shows of the year. The Marvel Studios series made its presence felt on Disney Plus in September and it has very quickly gripped fans around the world, furthering the story of WandaVision and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general.
