Avis à la une
She is so talented!. It must be so very difficult to not have any lines. She has to express the extreme emotions that Rosie feels though just her expression and actions. Miley Locke is truly going to be in great demand as an actor. David Tennant, well what can you say, He's David Tennant, superb in every part he plays. The love in this family is so strong. Mom Em, is so loving to both her children. Brother Ben puts up with so much from Rosie. Not many Teens would be so tolerant of her outbursts. To think this is based on a true family is heartwarming. This show is a must see for everyone. If you can, binge watch it. You will not be disappointed. If this was an American production it would be worthy of multiple EMMYs. Lets hope BAFTA continues to recognize this wonderful show and these wonderful actors. If I could give it 20 stars I would. Every actor is believable. Every actor's Timing is perfect, emotions are spot on. GREAT GREAT SHOW!!
This is so brilliantly written and acted. I've laughed and I've cried my way through all but one episode.
I've only written a review because I saw the overall rating, but reading the reviews has restored my faith in people. This show is magnificent, say what you like about us British but our ability to turn pain into humour is unrivalled! Based on Shaun Pye (the writers) own experience with his disabled daughter it is beautifully acted, written and produced. By the way the girl playing Rosie who isn't actually disabled, I mean just wow !!! I spoke to someone who has an autistic son and she said that although this show was so close to home for her the humour made her appreciate it all the more.
I adored this. It has a brutal honesty to it, and moments of great pain, but leavened with very realistic wins that give the family reason to find what happiness they can. The acting is wonderful, particularly Jessica Hynes, who probably has the most demanding role, but there's not a duff one amongst them.
I really loved it.
I really loved it.
The enormous strain that having a mentally disabled child is on full display. The courage, patience and the stamina of the family is well performed, written and screened.
But despite all that, this is a challenging program to watch. There's a feeling that you are living alongside the desperate frustrations that each family member have to go through and the unthinkable sacrifices that they have to make and the way that the father, mother and brother have to come to terms with the fact that they can't do what most 'normal' families can do.
There's also a lot of "What would I do in that situation?" Would any of us react the same way to given situations and disasters? Would we have the mental (and physical) fortitude to endure the relentless punishment of having a child that's "...wrong, but not wrong enough to die"?
Reviews from people who live life like this are probably more appropriate to take notice of than mine and I'd be interested in reading them. In the mean time I'll probably tune in for more because of the performances and the writing, despite it being very depressing to absorb.
