It was a good show, The VFX could have been better.

The portrayal of the characters was very good, the way the connections were formed was also good. What I found lacking was a more intimate connection emotionally between the main protagonists which I couldn't feel before ep 38!

Overall the 40 episodes were not really required and they could have focused more on the quality than just the duration but it was a good watch if you're into fantasy and are looking for something good!

Because of low budget and bans by Chinese Government, the plot itself and effects weren´t always that good. But despite all of this, the two lead actors did amazing job and made me enjoy every moment with them on the screen. They really brought the characters from novel to life and portrayed their chemistry incredibly well. I would definitely watch this show again.

Just started watching it and I'm hooked. My daughter also. Great show. I haven't heard anything about it just came across it on Amazon. Watched the trailer and was hooked. Any one who loves fantasy adventure shows this is the one for you. It's a must see.

With the limits they must work with in China, since this show was based on a BL novel, I say they've done an amazing job! And to find those two lead actors, Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong, was a stroke of genius. Those two bring so much to this series it's hard to even put into words, because it's everything from; micro acting, to how they use their body language, to how they use their voice, and much much more... it's fantastic! The storyline is simple and good enough, and the only negative is the special effects (but it's understandable with a limited budget). The soundtrack helps set the mood, and the title tracks are amazing! It tickles my funny bone every time I hear Journey in there though, LOL! I highly recommend you give this series a shot, for the sake of the two lead characters and their relationship if nothing else. Enjoy!

Guardian is without a doubt the most uplifting, inspiring story of friendship and love I have ever seen. When I started watching the series, I thought it was going to be fun, but I had no expectations beyond that. The first thing that caught my attention was the soundtrack: subtle and powerful, perfectly suited for the plot and the characters. I am sad to say that other technical aspects of the production do not match up. The dubbing is not what it should be, and the computer animation is substandard. But all that is as nothing compared to the amazing work of Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong. In my mind, Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei are immortal, just like James T. Kirk and Spock, or Old Shatterhand and Winnetou, or John Watson and Sherlock Holmes. If I happen to become a fictional character in my next life, I will make sure to thank them with all my heart.
