This film was almost canceled multiple times. The original draft of the script was written by Nick Hiratsuka in September 2015. He and the film's producer Chris Klok planned to do major rewrites soon after however, those re-writes kept getting pushed back. Eventually inspiration for the film Life's Overwhelming Variety of Emotions set in causing the film to be officially put on hold. Chris Klok left Just4youstudios May of 2017 which re-motivated Nick to finish (or more accurately, start) production of the Knock. The film was green-lit, and Nick began doing re-writes on the film. It took a lot of time but eventually, the script was completed and the team could begin doing the heavy lifting of the production. Casting, however, was one of their biggest problems. Nick was able to cast Chris Musicant, Tyler Mire and Emily Quiroz for the film. However with not making any more progress then that in a few month span, he brought in Emily as a casting director to help him finish casting the film. She was able to get actors Christian Cooper and Stormy Mack, but around that time Chris Musicant had to remove himself from the film due to personal reasons. Nick and Emily were able to recast Chris' part and bring on Heaven Dobkins to play Ellie. Unfortunately, around that time Stormy had to remove herself from the project due to scheduling conflicts. But also the conflict that caused Chris to resign had cleared up so he was once again available. By this time Nick and Emily had been working on casting for around 4 months. So within 2 weeks, Nick made a decision and moved people around with casting and scheduling to have a shoot by the end of those 2 weeks.
