Avis à la une
The show is a crescendo.
The first episodes may not fully convince, but above all the last two are well made and have excellent cliffhangers.
I'm sure that non-Italian-speaking viewers will appreciate it much more.
If witchcraft is your thing, you might want to check out Luna Nera. It's not perfect, but it has a lot going for it as well. The athmosphere is authentic, you can relate to the characters and obviously italian is a beautiful language to listen to. Main points of criticism for me were sound and sound editing and the fact that it's an open ending. Some of the writing could be better as wel, but all in all I enjoyed watching this show.
Short season with something happening each episode, this is the first out of a series of attempts on several Italian originals on Netflix and stands out. Great cinematography, just as impactful in English and Italian and that climatic season finale was a great pay off.
I am not sure how I feel about this series yet. So far I'm not a fan. For several reasons: 1. Italian actors that seem trained in theater and not film acting is a shame. There are insanely talented actors in Italy to have chosen this particular groups actors. 2. Music that was composed for this is very restricted in vision and therefore doesn't make any sense when watching. The emotions it tries to generate are not matched with what is happening at all. Instead of generating suspense or hope or mystery it's sooo melodic and peppy it takes away from the point of the scene. 3. Some music has lyrics in English which throw me off as I am watching in original language set several centuries ago, yet I have to hear upbeat music from the 21st century. Who thought this was a good idea? Seriously though! 4. Story so far is kind of dull. Some female is accused of witchcraft, but some educated male who believes in science and not ignorant ideas may save the day. Not interesting enough of a story. It could just be the slowness of it. The lack of interesting character building and transitions from scene to scene. I see there are reviews saying how did this get bad rating...and I ask...how did this get good rating?
Do any of the writers actually know how to tell a story and keep it consistent? This had such promise, but it is all over the place and back and forth and back again. Whaaaat?
I can't even figure out what to point out.
Beautiful costumes, great settings... but it feels like there was no real consistencies, nothing made sense. Perhaps they were trying to work on surprising people, which, it was surpising at times, but so hodge podge it made it ridiculous.
