Oh my, is this all it takes to get a paycheck in American Television, if so, I am on the first flight out to Hollywood, or rather the Bronx!
Truly awful B movie style acting, I don't know what they are doing with the audio, but it is awful throughout, the only saving grace is visually it is shot quite well, if you can forgive the jerky camera movements and the weird repetitive scenes, as if it is rewinding then playing again over the course of a few seconds...Bizarre!
I didn't really know the actors/tresses but there was no stand out performance and it was all really poorly done. One scene were the female lead cop is in a bar, holding a whisky shot and just looks really weird, not sure if the idea was to suggest she was struggling to cast her demons aside and drink it, or if it was supposed to suggest she was so drunk she couldn't drink it, I just wish I looked that sober when drunk! Then the following scene is so cringe.
I have never seen such glamorous drug addled prostitutes with such perfect teeth and total lack of track marks or even a blemish of dirt either, and what punter sits in a car after a mouth muzzle and just acts like a knife to his throat is like getting a drive through burger, even stating he will 'see you tomorrow!' after?
I have no idea who watches stuff like this and thinks, yeah that is akin to law and order SVU or Criminal Minds, or any similar show, I do know it seems to be a sad state of American TV these days, as its probably no worse than the likes of 911 or any other similar show released in the last year.
Maybe the joke is on me and this was just a jokey style script for some telethon event, but even then, just can it and move on!

You know, if you aren't hooked up with a BIG studio or have REALLY deep pockets, it's next to impossible to produce the kind of shows most people are used to on TV these days. That kind of budget- and the time it buys to work on something- just can't be replicated, no matter the passion put forth.
Good.
Because despite some audio glitches or the random curious edit, what I enjoyed most about the first season of Bronx SIU is that I WATCHED the whole first season.
Maybe that isn't such an accomplishment for someone with more time on their hands, or someone whose hobby is trolling folks who are actually creating something, but it is to someone who is a little more discerning about their time. There are SO MANY options out there for what to watch... and the fact that I found myself interested enough in these characters/actors and their struggles to stick with them to the end says something.
Kudos to storytelling that succeeds- at whatever level- without the biggest bankroll behind it. Good for you guys!
And kudos to those of you who can watch something with a positive eye rather than a crappy attitude. You'll find a lot to enjoy. Good for you, too.
And if you haven't watched yet, yes, do check it out. Bronx SIU is easily compared to the Law & Order genre, sure, but I found it to less normal TV procedural, and more "Law & Order Meets Black Box Theater". True, that may be a forced perspective because of the status of their budget OR it may be a stylistic choice... but, whichever one it is, BSIU comes off more raw and intimate then it's prime time big brothers.
Give it a shot. I'm off to check out Season 2.

Poorly written, poorly directed, poorly acted, poorly shot.
Looks extremely low-budget. I've seen student films that look like masterpieces compared to this.
Brian White has done much better work in other productions. He's the best actor in this cast, but his performance can't elevate him from this complete train wreck of a TV show.

It's no Law & Order (or others similar) but it's watchable, just!
Low budget definitely, so it's expected that it wouldn't be great.
3 or 4 actors carried this. Hidekun Hah, Brian White, Leticia Jimenez & Keeland Ellis.
With a bigger budget, this could have been great, but the story was all over the place, especially in season one. Camera work was dreadful too. It had a lot missing from the plot, it's like full episodes were missing, and they tried going back & forth in time, to try fill gaps, but often failed.
Shame.
I get what they tried to do here, but I'm going straight down the middle with this.

This is a great show. It's a lot grittier than I thought. It's on the line of Law & Order SVU and Chicago PD. Great show I'm all in.
