Breath

Lara is a geologist, and is studying a volcano. On finishing a days work, she comes down, is driving home and realizes she forgot her backpack. She returns, gets it and on the way down, the ground gives way, and she finds herself in a deep hole, and a badly injured leg. No one knows where she is, but she is skilled, and considering how little she had with her, it couldn't have been that far. She agonizes over her predicament, reflects on past decisions in her life, but really makes no stupid decisions in trying to get out. Some may fault her on trying to climb out, but unless one is a free climber, one never thinks a foot or hand hold is enough to be safe. Days go by. Rescuers are searching, but they say it is a huge area. In the hole, she is visited by a snake, one of the worst fakes ever. It is neither a great movie nor a stinker.

Ahh great another IFC movie, recommended to me again by Amazon. A woman gets trapped in a hole, similar to what happened in Apocalypto to the main characters wife. She can't get out of the hole. So she flashbacks on memories of her life and what got her to this point in the first place. Similar to 127 hours. Nothing new here. No great performances. Seems like just a low budget survival movie with like 2 actors in the whole movie.

And IMDB has now made it so a review has to have 600 characters before it can be entered. I really don't expect that to last very long because people are sure to complain about it. But until that happens I guess we have to expect reviews to be long winded and sometimes about absolutely nothing to do with the show in question.

I saw it on amazon at night, and I totally immersed myself in the story. The title is beautiful, the earth breathes, the volcano, the daughter's illness, the meaning of the title is beautiful. James Cosmo is a great actor...

I really enjoy the pace of the movie, even though I was tempted to forward a couple of times, but I stopped and sit quietly just to enjoy Lara's memories about her life, and how as everything in life, we are at the edge of the unexpected.

Like the photography as well, the two main characters: Lara and her dad makes this movie worth watching.

We are so custom to fast and blood in the screen, that few times I had the opportunity to enjoy the movie's plot and the performance of the actor.

Lara performance was real to me, she got deep into her role, that allowed me to live her pian and suffering all along.

It's a nice movie, it's really good the way it was shot. Good direction, good photography and a very dramatic story that takes you. The situation is similar to the movie "127" hours, but the way it is told is totally different, even the meaning.
