Great entertainment

Love this series! The premise is to recreate a feast from the past in one of Ireland's great houses. The peculiar dishes, the old fashioned ingredients, and the challenges of making such a repast on unreliable equipment all contribute to the surprise factor. What makes the show is the relationship between the three chefs and their assistants, the history of the house and its owners, and the gorgeous landscapes. After one of these episodes we are left smiling and drooling. Can't wait to see season 3.

The story behind the story

Lords and Ladles is not earth shattering and it is not meant to be. It is a fun and delightful show with three fun hosts who clearly love what they do. the places they visit, the people they meet and the menus are interesting and worth the watch. How the ingredients are obtained is interesting and thought provoking. The historical tidbits along the way are sprinkled in without feeling like a history lesson (Winston Churchill's mother for example in the Castle Leslie episode) and the literal dishes used for serving are special. I love history, food and architecture and this series brings them all together perfectly for me.

A cooking show that doesn't make you hungry, 3 chefs recreate meals from over 100 years ago. And very rich families get to show off their old homes and histories.

Not for vegetarians!!

Seldom does a TV show capture my imagination and Interest as this delightful show does. It has humour, history and really makes me want to travel to see these amazing places. I could give the food a miss but how clever are the three chefs in reproducing the menus, sometimes not completely authentic. I've only seen the first two series and can't wait to see more, cows udders and all!

What a great show!

This show is just wonderful. It is a great concept and combines history and architecture with cooking and an appealing cast. The 3 cooks have wonderful chemistry and are always engaging. The scenery is always beautiful and every episode manages to be informative and entertaining. I hope there are many morse seasons- if they run out of homes in Ireland they could do Great Britain, and the Continent or even the Americas. Bravo!
