Avis à la une
Comedies so heartfelt are few and far between. The characters are all so real, and deviate exceptionally from the standard roster of character archetypes in these sorts of films and shows. It's funny, because I never noticed how ubiquitous certain personality tropes are in this genre until watching this movie that defies the standards and is actually quite original.
Bonnie and the magpie are the best characters. Fight me. But everyone is pretty splendid in their own ways.
I do wish they didn't feel the need to endorse tobacco cigarettes at the end. The industry has enough seedy advertising without any help from the film industry. Could have done without.
If not for that, a few tiny plot holes toward the end, and the rando ending (which was hilarious, but I still wanted more elaboration 🤣) it would have been 10/10.
But overall, the film was lovely & truly unique! The best new post1990s movie I've seen this this year.

*NON-SPOILER*
I'm not exactly sure why, but when I seen the cover of this film, I genuinely thought it wouldn't be that great. The comedy in the film is excellent; snappy and quite dry which is perfect for me. The Irish always seem to pull dry wit off and very well at that! The storyline is intriguing and humourous, although far from serious, which is perfect for what the film is aiming to achieve. I would certainly watch it again, so, it just goes to show that you don't judge a book (or in this instance, a film) by its cover!

There is something very off with the movie. it is 10% puns 60% awkward menial shots who contribute nothing to the plot(besides dragging it) and 30% exposition done in a very annoying way (usually in the form of a character explaining to another something they already know in a long winded way). Would have worked better probably if it was condensed in a fourth of the runtime
I cannot believe that the first review I see says this was boring... not at all...
A black comedy Irish in its soul! Very entertaining!
What a naturally funny, hilarious romp. Strong characters all round. Very enjoyable.

- AnecdotesWhen Rose first arrives at the Martin household, there is a shot of her standing in front of the house with light shining down on her from a window. This is a recreation of the poster image from The Exorcist. There are several addition nods to that film, including an overt one when Martin mentions it by name.

- Crédits fousAfter the end credits are complete, there is a title card from the videotape that reads, "See you next time". While it is shown, Vincent is heard saying, That's all from us. See you next time." Then the sound of the VHS tape ejecting from the VCR is heard.
