The story? A truly good time. The unravelling of the mystery and hte set up of suspense? So well done. The only critique I would have owuld be that the manner of deaths... could have had a little more depth, but even though that sounds like a major issue in a horror movie, is definitely isn't. The suspense and mystery is the main flow of the movie.
I've seen some reviews where people are reviewing this as though it's the world's worst horror movie, which makes me think there is just something going on with those reviews. I am a horror movie aficionado and believe me, this is miles away from a "terrible horror movie." There is no floor to bad horror movies and this is a great movie in general. Bad for a horror movie? No way. I don't know where those people are coming from.
When it's a bad horror movies, you are getting the worst of the poorly produced, directed, assembled, clunky, ugly nonsense. This is not even one of those things. It's a very enjoyable film that is truly an actual film (and not a bad horror movie, which tend to look like home movies. What are these reviews talking about. Terrible horror movie? What?!)
The acting is great. Truly well done and with believable depth. There are never moments where the illusion is broken due to an actor's poor representation, vocalization, or anything like that. When I saw the intro with the main character being very muscular, I immediately got into scrutiny mode because that was a warning sign that aesthetics might be a replacement for talent, but nope! Casting did a FANTASTIC job.
I've rewatched it because it's fun to see how the story "reveal" at the end was woven through. And I am so impressed with the movie in all ways (except the deaths). Truly, recommend.

It's a rare movie that can fail on every level. The most impressive thing about this one is that you can't be absolutely sure it's as stupid as it is until pretty close to the end, and then it's too late. For a while it seems like it might be a solid indie film that just didn't have much of a budget. You can see how cheap it looks and how mediocre and strangely cast the actors are, but it seems like it might be going somewhere. About the time you start to think that not having much money doesn't actually explain these decisions, the characters get a lot more talkative and you suddenly realize this thing was written by someone who makes Stephenie Meyer look like Ernest Hemingway. Now everyone's delivering long, florid speeches (complete with bad grammar). Twists are introduced that are mind-bogglingly silly, and you can just tell whoever came up with them thought they were solid. Now there are action movie one-liners and some seriously gross misandry happening and the whole thing has melted into an incomprehensible mess. At this point there are ten minutes left, and even though you've wasted your evening and $5 on Prime, you have enough respect for yourself to cut your losses and turn it off.
That last part may just be me.

A Slow Burner Suspense Genre Which Is Dying To Blood And Gore Displayed In Horror Nowadays..A Bigger Budget Would Had Done Wonders To This One Time Watch..Missing Tim Burton Style Of Movies Though Made On A Low Cost..Can See Some Good Actors Here.. Screenplay Could Had Been More Tighter, Suspense Is Good Nevertheless..At The Start Of It It Can Be Easily Passable As A B Grade Horror Thriller,But It Does Get Interesting During The Later Half..Movies Like Crimson Peak,Ghost Ship,Shutter Island And Stonehearst Asylum Should Be Made Quite Often..That Era Is Sorely Missed..5/10..Could Had Been More.
This movie had a descent premise, but boy, did it not deliver.
The acting is terrible, the plot is all over the place, and most of the "twists" are easy enough to guess.
By the time the few details that I did not guess were revealed, I no longer cared.
The best part of this movie is the jump scare in the beginning with that hand reaching out over the desk.
That hand leads you to believe this will be a much better movie than it is.
Even the ambiguous time period ( I honestly didn't even realize it wasn't current til I noticed the men were wearing hats with their suits) this movie seems to be set in just added to the over all muddled feel of it.
Definitely skip this one!
