New Outlander Spinoff Castings Include Deep Cut for Book Fans
Image
The latest round of Outlander spinoff casting includes an Easter Egg for a subset of the book-loyal fandom.

Starz on Wednesday announced the addition of four roles to the forthcoming prequel, Blood of My Blood. Among them: Watchmen‘s Sara Vickers in the part of Brian Fraser’s mother (and, therefore, Jamie Fraser’s grandmother). The character is a housekeeper in the Lovat household, which is good and all, but we’re super into how she’s also named after someone many devotees of author Diana Gabaldon will recognize: Davina Porter, who narrates the audiobook versions of Gabaldon’s Outlander book series.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood Prequel Series Casts Young Murtagh, 3 Others
Image
Starz’s Outlander prequel series has cast younger versions of four familiar characters.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood, as the offshoot is titled, will explore the lives and relationship of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (played by Pennyworth‘s Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor’s Nest‘s Jamie Roy) and Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together‘s Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone‘s Jeremy Irvine). The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England.

Outlander (2014)
Outlander prequel revamped, will now follow Jamie and Claire’s parents
Outlander (2014)
Outlander may be gearing up for its endgame, but the franchise is far from over.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood was ordered into a series and is officially in production.

But the series will differ slightly from the initial plan, and we’re sure the passionate fans of the franchise will welcome the changes.

When the show scored a formal pickup, it would be a prequel following Jamie’s (Sam Heughan) father and mother, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.

While they will both remain in the mix for the new series, we’ll also be delving into Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) past thanks to the introduction of her parents, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.

Interestingly, the original series has kept details about Julia and Henry under wraps, thanks to Claire’s limited memories of them.

Claire has few memories of her parents on Outlander

We know they both died in...

Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 1: Everything We Know So Far
Outlander: Blood of My Blood (2025)
The original Doughtlander may not be over, but Outlander: Blood of My Blood hopes to close the gap.

For sure, it will be taking over where Outlander leaves off, even if it explores a story long before Jamie and Claire were figments of their parents' imagination.

Here’s what we know bout Blood of My Blood Season 1 so far.

What is Outlander?

It’s best to start with what we know, which is what came before. Outlander is based on a series of books by author Diana Gabaldon.

Outlander is a time-traveling love story between 20th-century (married) nurse Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser and 18th-century Jamie Fraser.

When visiting the ancestral home of her husband, Frank, Claire stumbles through the rocks at Craigh na Dun, which takes her back in time.

Unable to easily find her way back, the sassy lady leans on handsome laird Jamie for protection, and soon, they are in love.

‘Black Noise’ VOD’ Review
Image
Stars: Wayne Gordon, Sadie Newman, Eve Mauro, Jackson Rathbone, Alex Pettyfer, Niki Spiridakos | Written by Sean-Michael Argo, Leigh Scott | Directed by Philippe Martinez

Black Noise is the latest film to follow in the footsteps of Predator and takes a group of highly trained professional soldiers and sends them to a remote location on what should be a simple mission only for it to turn into a battle with something beyond their comprehension. Earlier this year Island Escape added a few twists to make it feel fresh, can Black Noise pull off the same feat?

A large man, uniformed and armed, flees through a Carribean rainforest. Whatever he’s running from must be dangerous, his uniform is torn and he’s battered, bloody, and panicked to the point of shooting at moving foliage. Reaching a house he sees a quad parked in the yard, just what he needs to escape. But...

‘First Contact’ Review
Image
Stars: Paul Kandarian, Anna Shields, James Liddell, Chris Cimperman, Caitlin Duffy, Michael L. Parker | Written and Directed by Bruce Wemple

First Contact, the latest film from writer/director Bruce Wemple, sees him mixing the monster movie themes that he’s used in films like Dawn of the Beast with the time travel and sci-fi concepts from Lake Artifact and The Tomorrow Job with a hint of Lovecraftian cosmic terror. Add in some musings about family and the result is an entertaining if somewhat muddled, film.

Dr. Ian Bradach is a scientist working on something that seems incredibly important, finds his work interrupted by the arrival of a creature who we can’t really see, but we can tell is very hostile. It all ends with a column of bright white light exploding skyward.

From there we join Casey as she arrives at her father’s house. Her estranged brother Dan...

‘Condor’s Nest’ Review
Image
Stars: Michael Ironside, Jackson Rathbone, Arnold Vosloo, Jorge Garcia, Bruce Davison, Jacob Keohane, Al Pagano, Corinne Britti, James Urbaniak | Written and Directed by Phil Blattenberger

Writer and director Phil Blattenburg has done a good job here to create a World War II movie set ten years after the end of the war. That might sound a bit strange but Condor’s Nest looks and feels very much like a World War II movie but takes place a decade later. We follow an American aviator who is out for revenge and on the search for Nazi war criminals. But he soon gets mixed up in much more than just that.

The opening scene of Condor’s Nest is possibly the best scene of the whole movie. It has a hint of Tarantino to it but is a bit less dialogue and a bit less subtle about things. This scene is during World War...

In the film Condor’s Nest, viewers follow an aviator searching for war criminals years after the end of WWII. Jorge Garcia plays Proprietor Hipolito, owner of a cantina that brings the main characters together and pushes the story forward.

In an exclusive interview with uInterview, Garcia revealed some of the troubles he had behind the scenes.

“What I remember most about the shoot in North Carolina was when I flew in work the one day and I think I was even supposed to fly back that night, but there was an issue with my flight connecting late so I had to be picked up and driven the rest of the way,” he began. “Which, unbeknownst to me, because I didn’t take that second leg, ended up canceling my return ticket. I would have to wait, meanwhile, this is happening, the airline also had lost my luggage or my luggage...
