I knew Botero's work as I follow contemporary art. I love this documentary because it poses a serious question to the art world: why do we have so much chill should I say to artists who are so popular?

Second his story is crazy I had no idea he came from nothing.

Also it's gorgeous to watch and so well timed. In a time when art prices are crazy, shouldn't we embrace an artist who can touch people who aren't all the elite? Anyway, well worth a watch if you love art.

While I recognized the art and the figurative style, I confess I wasn't familiar with the artist himself before seeing this film. I'm so glad I took the time to view it. Beautiful cinematography, including some truly intimate moments with Botero and with his adult children. The film-makers told a cohesive story of the artist's life and works, with a caring eye and ear. The scene of unfurling works stored long ago was particularly compelling - so much passion and colour hidden away for years - it felt like discovering treasure. I loved every minute.

There is something about a story well told that stays with you a long time. Seeing beautiful art has the same effect on me and the beauty of the art in this film is astounding. Although I am no expert, I am sure the skillful camerawork under the direction of Don Millar is a major contributing factor. At one point during the film I couldn't help thinking that seeing the artwork presented alone, was worth the price of admission. In the telling of Botero's life journey it is evident that the presentation of his progression as an artist and the focus on specific turning points is well considered and results in a film that is greater than the sum of its parts. I highly recommend this film to anyone interested in art, art history and learning about life through the lens of an accomplished and successful individual.

This film is a must-see for all art lovers who want a deeper understanding of what goes into the creation of a masterpiece. It is a beautiful film, gorgeously shot, and told with a tenderness that is worthy of the artist.

I knew already about Botero, and I have always admire his work, but this is the first time I actually see him talking about his life and his passion to paint. It was amazing I highly recommend this movie.
