Avis à la une
Imagine if Nineteen-Seventies' Woody Allen made a hip New York City comedy about a turf war between Mafia wise guys and kung-fu Triad gangsters fighting for control of... (wait for it) condiments. Throw in a clueless but sincere Chinese boy who wants to become an Italian wise guy so the girl he loves will love him back. Now welcome a cast of classic gangster-movie tough guys pitted against legendary Chinese kung-fu movie stars. "Made in Chinatown" writer/producer Mark Wiley is my close friend, a frequent business associate over the years, and I was briefly cast as the Commissioner in this movie. Even so, cineastes, enjoy this show, which is smart as a whip and gloriously corny all at once, and introduces, in Mark Wiley, a major new talent. Kirk out.
This is a really nice first film from Mark Wiley! It is an enjoyable film - funny and cute! Look for some awesome character actors! Mark's humor and passion comes through!!
This movie is very original and has a great deal of humour, with amazing martial arts action scenes. Worth seeing again!
This movie is a true family film that can appeal to so many tastes and interests, e.g., mafia movie buffs, martial arts fans, comedy lovers, etc. The action was really well done and the parody of the mob was hysterical! Great summer flick!
Made in Chinatown is surprisingly good. You would think its a mob film with kung-fu, but it is so much more!! One could say it is a love story or a story of coming to terms with being an outsider. It tackles these themes while spoofing the mob and kung-fu film genres. And they got classic genre actors to do it. The surprise is how good Jay Kwon in as the lead (Vinny Chow), and amazing talent of "Lawrence" the gay black actor who is really a karate master, and the amazing Raymond Barry digging deep into his theater and film roles to pull of the silliest of lines with the straightest of face. Made in Chinatown is a fun romp that leaves you with a full heart at its conclusion.

- AnecdotesThe story "Made in Chinatown" was in part inspired by writer Mark V. Wiley's love of elements in four films: Le pape de Greenwich Village (1984), Les Aventures de Jack Burton dans les griffes du Mandarin (1986), Premiers pas dans la Mafia (1990), and Kiss Me, Guido (1997). This was merged with his obsession with the Shaw Bros. classic '80s kung-fu flicks, featuring Meng Lo and Feng Lu.
