One of Mel Gibson’s more recent movies that flew under the radar has become a surprising hit on streaming. Gibson stars alongside the late Shannen Doherty in Hot Seat, the 2022 cyber thriller following an ex-hacker who is forced to break into a high-level bank and another man who breaks into the bank to save and stop him. Despite an extremely limited theatrical run that saw the film earn less than $100,000 at the global box office, Hot Seat has become one of the more popular movies of the week on Freevee, sitting at #4 at the time of writing. Hot Seat was Mel Gibson’s first movie after Father Stu, the 2022 biopic starring Mark Wahlberg that’s streaming on both Hulu and Max.

Mel Gibson's position in Hollywood is precarious to say the least, but that has not stopped his 2022 action thriller Hot Seat from jumping into the Freevee Top 10 after it was added to the platform earlier this month. Directed by James Cullen Bressack and starring Gibson alongside Kevin Dillon, the film was met with harsh reviews upon release, which makes its new-found success on streaming unexpected…but at the same time completely on trend for free streaming releases.
Hot Seat is a high-stakes hostage thriller, which centers on It expert Orlando Friar (Dillon) who becomes an unwitting pawn in a dangerous cyber-heist. Forced to hack into government servers while trapped in a booby-trapped office chair rigged to explode (of course he is), Friar must race against the clock to outsmart the anonymous mastermind holding his life—and the city—hostage. It feels like we can all admit that Andrew Garfield has a knack for stepping into biographical roles. Sure, his unfairly short-lived time as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man was a fan-favorite role of his career, but the actors ability to deliver a very on-point and personal performance is out of this world. From movies like The Social Network to Breathe, the entertainment aficionado has shown his versatility. Nearly a full decade ago, Garfield took on one of the most challenging roles of his career with Mel Gibsons Hacksaw Ridge a decision that paid off in a major way. Not only did the movie become a financial juggernaut at the global box office, but it would end up landing the young actor his first Academy Award nomination. Interested parties should mark down November 1 on their calendars as the based-on-a-true-story wartime feature is set to arrive on Paramount+.

One thing that can make or break a WWE Superstar is a finisher. A wrestler could have the full package - the look, the aura, the in-ring skill, the best promo skills, etc. - but a good finisher that leaves an impression in the minds of audiences makes all the difference for a wrestler's career. It could be a flashy one, but for a finisher to truly leave an impression, it needs to be brutal and look as dangerous as possible.
Obviously, a finisher should not be as dangerous as to actually injure an opponent, but it helps to look as brutal as some of the examples on this list.
Spear Bill Goldberg Credited With Inventing it
While wrestlers in previous decades like Hacksaw Jim Duggan would do similar moves that would be referred to as a Shoulder Tackle, Bill Goldberg is widely credited as inventing the Spear. At the very least,...

If looks could kill, Casey Affleck would’ve been six feet underground during the 87th Academy Awards.
When Ben Affleck’s younger brother landed his first-ever Oscar, owing to his performance in Kenneth Lonergan’s Manchester by the Sea, the Batman v Superman star teared up out of pride. But when Denzel Washington lost the prestigious accolade to the 48-year-old actor, his eyes filled with tears of bitter anguish.

And as if the loss wasn’t bad enough, Affleck sprinkled salt on the wound by paying a tribute to Washington in his acceptance speech. Yikes.

Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.

Hacksaw Ridge is a war movie based on the true story of Desmond Doss, a brave combat medic in World War II who saved 75 men on the battlefield. Doss's religious beliefs as a conscientious objector led to him refusing to bear arms, which caused tension with his fellow soldiers during training. Exclusive: Face/Off and Hacksaw Ridge producer David Permut has acquired Steve Lillbuen’s true crime book The Devil’s Cinema about Canadian filmmaker Mark Twitchell who was convicted of first degree murder in 2011.
Twitchell is serving a life sentence for the murder of John Brian Altinger, whom he lured into a “kill room” set up in his garage-turned-film-studio. Twitchell bludgeoned and stabbed Altinger, before cutting him apart and then dumping his remains in garbage bags. His arrest and trial attracted substantial media attention since his crimes were inspired by TV series Dexter and lead character Dexter Morgan, prompting some outlets to refer to Twitchell as the “Dexter Killer”.
The shocking story will be featured this month on an upcoming episode of CBS’s true crime series 48 Hours.

Exclusive: Stan Spry and Eric Woods of Los Angeles production outfit The Cartel are teaming with David Permut to acquire the film rights to Joel Dobson’s novel The Goldsboro Broken Arrow.
The book tells the true story of one of the most serious nuclear incidents in history. In 1961, four pilots ejected out of a B-52 aircraft carrying two thermonuclear bombs at 9,000 feet after the plane was struck multiple times by lightning and lost a wing. One pilot died, three others survived, and the two nuclear bombs fell at a velocity of 700 mph and crashed into Goldsboro, North Carolina.
The condition of the fail-safe mechanism on the bombs, which were 250 times more destructive than the Hiroshima bomb, was unknown, and there was no guarantee that they could be deactivated. Twenty-two-year-old Lt. Jack ReVelle, a bomb disposal expert, was charged with the dangerous mission of deactivating them.

Happy 2021, everyone! It’s been a few weeks, but we’re back with a brand-new edition of our weekly Blu-ray and DVD releases column to kick off this new year. And while we may not have a ton of titles headed home on Tuesday, we do have an excellent bunch of films all the same, including one of my favorite films of 2020, Love and Monsters, which hits various formats this week. Another film from last year that I really enjoyed was Brea Grant’s 12 Hour Shift, which hits both Blu-ray and DVD (and will be available On Demand) tomorrow, and if you have somehow never seen it, I highly recommend picking up the new Blu for Savage Streets, featuring Linda Blair.
Other releases for January 5th include Tintorera… Tiger Shark, From the Depths, Nina of the Woods, and Hacksaw.
