Obvious Plot Twist is Obvious but Oblivious to Her...

I had intended to list out all of the many gripes I was accumulating with this film, but by the end the idiotic characters just miffed me way too much to want to bother.

The movie is very disarming in how it is presented as it almost lulls you into thinking you're watching a smart auteur movie. With its professional crisp cinematography, overall atmosphere, the ambient soundtrack, deliberate editing, a suitable enough cast, and actors making choices.

You'd never imagine the characters here to be such ignoramus dimwits.

Watching it you'd be forgiven to believe the main protagonist lady was sharper and smarter than usual since the movie really wants to give us that impression... Much of which is really the actress's doing who honestly succeeds in looking like she's always putting the puzzle together behind those eyes of hers...

Except she isn't. She's not. As new scenes and developments build on top of old ones and the movie continues to chug along toward the end, we're left to discover that she hasn't grasped onto anything. The only certainty she knows and acts on is "I don't like that Hannah lady." Every single other twist, surprise, sabotage, backstab, and reveal all come as a OMG shock to her.

    Just one example:

She hears the nanny's suspicions that her husband may be seeing someone in NYC, then in the next scene her husband tells her he has to leave on a surprise "work trip" to NYC for a few days, and then the very next scene after that her work rival Hannah also tells her that she is going out of town for a few days having just made last minute plans to NYC...

The look on the wife's face says she is suspicious...

    ...But nope.

She literally pieces NOTHING together the whole movie. Not until her husband finally drops an obvious plot twist bombshell on her with about 20 minutes left to go in the movie. The sudden realization dawning on her leaves her so shellshocked that the movie (literally) time jumps to...

    2 WEEKS LATER.

Now the cast of idiotic characters are all happy and acting as if the credits were about to roll, despite everybody knowing that the movie's villain is still out there and was never caught. And in those 2 weeks, no one has taken any precautions, added any protections, involved police at all, or ensured that their baby and nanny were somewhere safe instead of being left home alone. Nothing. They've done nothing...

Then they're all blindsided and somehow shocked when the psycho lady returns and kills some people and steals their baby. If only they could have foreseen something like this happening.

If you love Lifetime movies, you'll enjoy this!

This is your average Lifetime psycho thriller movie. The plot is pretty average for these movies and there is plenty of suspense and the fun drama.

I noticed the reviews here for this one were particularly negative for some strange reason. When I chose to watch this, I already knew it's the usual Lifetime type of movie with the pretty straightforward plot and maybe even somewhat predictable if you spend time trying to figure it out before the ending instead of just watching it and taking it as it is.

One review of the few there are, is angry the cast is British but pretend to be American. Who cares?

Another review is long and nitpicks at the movie in great detail, giving it a 5. It's so long and tedious with no paragraphs, it might be faster and more fun to watch the movie.

Yet another long review again invests a lot of effort in summarizing to explain why the movie is so bad, and gives it a 3. If it's so bad why put so much effort into reviewing it?

Then another long 3 star reviews discussing the characters and plot, again too much effort into reviewing a what is supposedly a terrible movie...

Finally a 1 star review saying it's just poorly written with too much jumping around with nonsense, bad acting...

That's surely a lot of very detailed reviews of a supposedly terrible worthless movie. The movie must have been fascinating enough to even bother!

So in conclusion, I didn't think the reviews were appropriate for this type of movie where the viewer already knows the usual formula. I enjoyed the movie like many other Lifetime thrillers, it was a pretty decent storyline, with nice setups and fine acting, and plenty of the usual suspense. It was entertaining, and I recommend it if you're a fan of Lifetime style movies. There is no issue with this one.

Not a good movie at all

This was poorly written. Too much jumping around with a lot of nonsense. The acting was bad, the movie is bad, the writing is bad. There is truly not one good thing I can say about this poorly done movie.

The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen

This movie brought me pain in my head, my eyes, my ears and my stomach. I felt nauseated and frustrated at what I saw and heard. The movie just kept getting worse. The main character is annoying and unlikable, and her AWFUL bangs made matters worse. This movie was a trainwreck. Here are some of the dumbest moments, are you ready?

Kathy was going to cheat on her husband because he wasn't answering her calls, so she called her ex over and he rejected her. Before he arrived, she thought she was seductive because she popped one of the top buttons open on her blouse, exposing the lower part of her neck. It was cringy. Then Kathy's husband was stabbed and he collapsed... supposedly went "unconscious". When Kathy found him, he "woke up" and they kissed while he was bleeding out. They even exchanged words like nothing happened. Billy, the baby, changed from a chubbier baby to a newborn baby at the end of the movie. I want every minute back that I spent watching it.

Crazy Ex thriller with a British cast

A woman returns from maternity leave and find her temp has usurped her. There is a reason why her wacko temp is there.

One unusual thing is this is a Lifetime thriller with a mostly British cast acting as Americans. No wonder everyone is a bit paler. But don't expect RADA quality acting. It's done alright production quality wise and the story is okay as a moderately diverting thriller but not too different from this kind of thriller.

    • Anecdotes
Despite being set in the U.S. with American characters, almost all of the actors, crew and production are British.
    • Gaffes
Near the beginning of the movie, when Mark and Kathy are talking in the morning about Kathy not wanting to start her first day back to work being two hours late because Fran couldn't get there yet and Mark had to go to work, their conversation is done with two camera angles back and forth - facing Mark and facing Kathy. Kathy is holding the baby and standing about 10 feet away from Mark. When the camera is facing Kathy, the baby is sound asleep against her chest, but when it's facing Mark, looking at him from Kathy's angle, the baby's face is just above her left shoulder with his eyes wide open. So as the camera angles change back and forth, the baby is asleep, then awake, then asleep, then awake, etc.
