Thieves

Caught this on Amazon last night. Wasn't expecting much. This was really good. Although you could tell they did not have a lot of money to do it, it was really entertaining. Nice camera work and action scenes. Kudos to all of the cast and such beautiful women!

I happen to catch this at the Golden State Film Festival in February. It was awesome! For the budget Winn must have had for this, it was beautifully shot, well directed and has a great cast. I didn't feel bored at any point as it moves at a really good clip. Reminded me of Michael Mann's early films, particularly "Thief." There are several Mann references throughout the film which I really thought were cool. Even though I have seen a lot of heist films, this one kind of twisted the genre and had a lot of surprises. Awesome 80's style score as well. Can't wait to see what Winn makes next. This one is a lot of fun, I highly recommend it for people who are into cool independent films.

Caught this on Amazon tonight and wanted to review it because it impressed me so much. If this was really made for 10k, it was pretty damn impressive! Great cast, solid storytelling and cool cinematography. If you are expecting Ocean's 11, this ain't it, but if you are looking for a fun indie film that delivers more than you expect, this is the film for you.

Caught this on Amazon Prime. Was a fun ride. The acting is good, the direction is cool and loved the black and white. Felt like an old noir film. Was kind of like early Michael Mann flick crossed with Kubrick's "The Killing."

This film nearly has it all- interesting story, great locations, cinematography, diverse characters, a heist. I really wanted to like this film. But the acting is horrible from A to Z. In scene after scene I found myself thinking "People don't really talk like this". The supposed crime boss comes off as too nice even when threatening the "thief". Ditto the bookie that he owes money to. The police investigators "probing" a police-involved shooting seem uninterested. As do all the actors in this film. I think that they filmed a read-through or put together the auditions of the actors who failed to get the parts. This film is so bad that it could easily become a cult favorite !
