I have seen many wonderful sports concept movies. This movie is similar to other sports movies, First half is very boring, Senseless comedy scenes, Sudeep shown his higher presence on the screen. Second half director tried to grip the story by adding sentiments and emotions, final shots if boxing is fine but its similar to Hindi movie brothers. One emotional song of kids struggles is similar to Tare zameen par song. Many scenes are copied from sultan. Sudeep tried his best. Watchable

One of the worst movie watched . Totally a mess . There is no story flow at all . The story is totally mixed up . Screenplay not good . Camera works were good and even the acting .

Kichcha Sudeepa has worked really hard for this film especially to undergo a physical transformation from a charming hero to a powerful & athletic wrestler! As per the actor, he has played several challenging roles in cinema but none of them demanded this level of transformation!

The film shows the journey of a young boy Krishna, an orphan who is adopted by a gymkhana owner who also becomes his coach. He eventually rises against all odds to become a successful wrestler. Things take a turn and Krishna faces some grave challenges in his life which ultimately leads him to swear not to ever wrestle again! From here the story continues in quite an inspiring way.

The film in its entirety follows a predictable and clichéd approach to story telling. The first half of the film has the majority of melodramatic acting, dull comedy and un-impressive song sequences. The second half is better mainly because of the energetic fight scenes, emotions and some strong, heart touching dialogues.

The film tries to pack a lot of things into a single film. Especially at the beginning, the screenplay is just too fast with several things happening in a short frame of time. The film doesn't give enough time to allow the viewer to indulge himself, connect and blend into the emotions on-screen.

The casting of the film could have been better and the film entirely centres on Kichcha Sudeepa who stands out throughout the film with his brilliant performance. His dedication and perseverance reflects in the film. Suniel Shetty manages to impress in some parts. Aakanksha Singh has acted decently. The cinematography is very good. The music is satisfactory with a couple of melodious song sequences.

All in all this is an inspirational sports movie and although it tries to pack a lot into a single film, it almost proves to be a one time watch with the family!

It's a good joy ride throughout the film. contains good action n kusthi scenes. very emotional movie.

Director S Krishna blends drama, emotions & sportsmanship extraordinarily! The icing on the cake being Kiccha Sudeep & Suniel Shetty's towering acts. Megahit written all over it!

Director S Krishna deserves brownie points for narrating the story with flourish. The narrative style is simplistic, yet solid & that's what catches your eye. Emotions are genuine, relatable, poignant & heartrending and the drama is spot-on. The strong emotional connect depicting the delicate father-son relationship is shown realistically. Wrestling sequences are superbly executed & will surely evoke whistles & applause. K Ravi Varma, Vijay, Ram Chella-Lakshman Chella & Larnell Stovall

The penultimate moments take the film to an all-time high, imparting the sheen and sparkle that it deserves. It is not similar to SULTAN. There's a world of a difference between the two films that eye the same sport: Wrestling. So there! It stays true to the material, yet its efficient storyteller S Krishna along with screenplay writer D S Kannan ensures that the film connects with every segment of moviegoers. Most importantly, the film is seeped in Indian ethos. Kudos!

On the flip side, there is no novelty in the proceedings. Editing (Antony L Ruben) is deplorable. The boring romantic track eats most of the runtime. Also, the emotional angle of kids & Sushant Singh track test the patience of the audience. At 2 hours and 46 minutes, the film feels way too long. Music (Arjun Janya) is plain ordinary but his background score effectually enhances the impact of the drama. Karunakar's cinematography deserves tremendous praise. WOW!

It is, undoubtedly, a Kiccha Sudeep show all the way. Yet another sterling act that doesn't miss a beat! He takes giant strides as an actor & gives the film the much-needed power. He sports a cat-that-got-the-cream look all through. Magnificent! Another commanding performance that needs to be highlighted is that of Suniel Shetty. He compliments Kiccha Sudeep's character marvellously, displaying the varied emotions seamlessly. Aakanksha Singh injects freshness to her character. Brill! Kabir Duhan Singh is an actor to watch out for. First-rate performance! Sushant Singh is equally efficient, who shines in his part.

To sum up, the movie has everything to please its target audience. You'll exit the auditorium feeling ecstatic! Go, Watch it!

The story is about a man who brought up to be an undefeatable wrestler (pahlwaan) in the world of wrestling (kushti). Time however has different plans for him. He becomes a man with a family and leaves wrestling.

Now comes the most beautiful part of movie. The phase as a father. It's portrayed and pictured beautifully.

Later the tables turn and he fights again. As the movie progresses now the main character wants to improve the life of children via sports. He decides to enter boxing. Will he succeed?

I can understand to work certain script is required, but still why boxing. If they would have written and executed something better like wrestling itself I would have been at more ease. That's where the movie loses. Apart from that it's a good watch.

Honestly this the first movie of kitcha sudeep where his acting is so intense that it creates a mixture of emotions,action,wows and prejudices..

Both the villains have done tremendous job esp the boxer who is ruthless n haughty n doesnt bothers if he kills someone to win a fight.. Suniel Shetty is an icing on cake esp when he comes back to defeat the maharaja who is another antagonist..

And finally its the relationship between a father and son and again Father n daughter depicted in a beautiful way which makes us clear that relationships do matter in our life..

Must watch movie. Watch it once n definitely u would like to watch it again in near future too.

Starting is good but the film misses the flow in the second part... These guys make films to make good money and make some rules like certain amount comedy action a message everything should be there which makes the film deviate from the concept.. Really a headache at the end... Don't watch it waste of time

Though Sultan & Dangal movies are based on same wrestling but the story was different. Like this movie also have different story. The movie was not only concentrated on sports but the cause behind it. Background score was plus point to movie. The movie was emotionally balanced. All characters portrayed nicely. It was the package entertainment!

I like kicha's acting in this movie , good message oriented movie

The Good: Sudeep's acting in the second half. Suniel Shetty's role. Wrestling fight sequences (not boxing bouts).

The Bad: Many gaps in story line. Too many sub plots which distracts viewers from main plot. Misplaced and forced emotions. Characters come and go as needed, sufficient effort has not been put in building Characters. Continuous background score.

The Ugly: A talented actor Sushaant Singh was wasted in this movie. MMA fights could have been used instead of boxing, which would have done justice to the physique built by Sudeep.

Overall review: Avoidable

A must watch movie,a different era of sandalwood. Please go and watch in your nearest theatres

The story starts on a promising note with all actors especially Sunil Shetty delivering a power packed performance. The father-son aspiring for a shared goal amidst burst of emotions was showcased really well. However, post interval, the film lost its plot due to the introduction of many complex and out of the blue sub plots. What could have been a great movie ended up becoming a mediocre masala movie. Nevertheless, it's a good one time watch for Sudeep and Shetty fans.

A very good movie for kiccha sudeep's career. He does really well with his wonderful performance. Kiccha sudeep's body fitness was excellent to watch and very apt for this story. Sunil shetty played a wonderful role and he does well. Director gave a good sports movie with a good message but movie is very lengthy because of the first half. Lit bit of boring with the love scenes in first half but second half is excellent.

A great sports movie to watch, highly recommended!

Pailwaan is a very beautifully shot movie. From capturing colors, akhada's to capturing the emotions in the camera and specially capturing the fights and kusthi sequences;

There is something for everyone in this entertainment package. There's drama, Emotion, Action, Humor & Kusthi.

Movie is super, every scene are Goshbombs, effect are super

This movie is so routine, storyline is about 1990's. No need to release it other languages. I got surprised to see all the positive reviews for a movie like this. At least for telugu audiences this a very bad movie.

Avoid it unless you are a fan of sudeep

Don't know about the hype created around this, Such an ordinary movie. Decade old sentimental scenes, unnecessary dragging of the story, makes it really hard to sit for entire movie. I would like Sudeep to see in some meaningful movie rather than typical mass. He is a good actor but zero experiments to chose other genres. Totally, waste of money and time.

A different version of Salman's Sulthan movie but with a small change in the story.There is nothing to watch for 2.45hrs just wasted the time.

When it comes to acting Sudeep is legend...Same he continued in this movie...1st half is bit slow but movie is outstanding in 2nd half...it tells about struggling of sportsman...Sunil Shetty is outstanding and heroine is Soo cute.. Screen play is good..BGM is Superb.. overall superb
