Further new openers include Lionsgate’s ‘Farming’, eOne’s ‘The Day Shall Come’.

Two contrasting titles are among the new openers at the UK box office this weekend, as Universal’s animated comedy Abominable goes up against Paramount’s Will Smith action drama Gemini Man.

However the new openers will have to score strongly to knock Warner Bros’ Joker from top spot, which scored a huge £12.6m debut last weekend.

Abominable is a DreamWorks Animation production, about a magical Yeti in Shanghai on a quest to reunite with his family on Mount Everest. Chloe Bennet, Albert Tsai and Tenzing Norgay Trainor lead the voice cast.

Join “The Creatress,” a feature film starring Fran Drescher and Peter Bogdanovich, this fall as a background actor! The production is currently seeking a variety of actors, aged 18–65, for background roles, including extras at a coffee shop, theater, church reception, and more. A specific number of extras are wanted for each scene. The production will shoot Sept. 29–Oct. 15 in Los Angeles. All scenes correspond to specific shoot dates and times over the two weeks. Fran Drescher and legendary director/actor Peter Bogdanovich will co-star in The Creatress, a drama co-produced by Café Oscuro Films and Digital Cuvee. Written and directed by Jason Cook, the film centers on best-selling author Eryn Bellow who concludes her bookstore tour with her agent selling film rights and closing a six figure advance for her follow-up.
