Declaration of interest here, I know Tristan and found this to be unexpectedly moving. This could become an issue as big as Tobacco or Asbestos. Toxins in cabin air is the thing that no-one wants to acknowledge. Everybody Flies is a softly spoken film that lets the facts and its victims speak for themselves. And in the end we are left with the distinct feeling that more than anything this is about the betrayal of childhood dreams by big corporations. Nicely shot and edited and a good score. You will think about flying differently by the end of it. I did. Knowing something about Tristan's journey, this is also a tribute to the power of tenacity.
This film shocks you by its calm build up of disturbing facts and presentation of evidence that leave you walking out of the cinema in complete disbelief that this is not only allowed, but both denied and justified at the same time.
Would you sit in a closed garage with the car engine on?
Would you believe a boiler fitter telling you that carbon-monoxide detectors are a waste of money because there isn't enough evidence that carbon-monoxide is bad for you?
Well, every time you step on the vast majority of aircraft around the world you are doing just that.
This Film should be on prime time TV
But that would be "inconvenient" to Boiler manufacturers.
What a superb documentary. Tristan has excelled with genuine information from a variety of sources. It is encouraging to hear that Easyjet are the first UK airline to consider installing filters. All the others are burying their heads in the sand with denials of the problem.... but I fear for not much longer. The writing is clearly on the wall - there needs to be more litigation against airlines and aircraft / engine manufacturers for producing and or operating in an unsafe manner. The truth is on every can of engine oil. With more litigation that will force the situation. DHL although cargo only have retro fitted clean air systems.I was surprised the French knew of this problem in the 50's and their military had engine oil to different specification - shock horror that even that oil is untested for toxic vapours etc. Well done Tristan I look forward to your next documentary.
I saw this film with my boyfriend in London and we were totally fixed to the screen for the entire movie .An amazing insite into the reality of airline travel and the hidden danger that is being covered up by the industry .An absolute must watch film for documentary lovers .
I saw this documentary at the Glasgow premier on the 9th of March and I was blown away by the details and drive shown by Tristan. It's a must see for anyone who travels by plane or is going on a plane soon. More needs to be done to disclose the appalling behaviour of the airlines, governments and health officials that help to cover this up, in the past and still to this day.
