Avis à la une
A couple is on the honeymoon. You follow them in all what they are doing and start to like them. Suddenly bad things happen and you really fear for them. In most horror films, I really do not care about the horror victims. In this film that is different. The Film is most likely on low budget, but here is does not matter., as there are no special effects. The movie is filmed as sort of documentary. All scenes are presented as if recorded by CCTV or smart phones.
For the most part, I enjoyed the movie. Everyone seemed real and the couple reacted the ways I would probably react, so I could identify with them. My only real gripe is the ending. It felt a little rushed and open ended.
Right, well I wish I had opted to check the IMDb rating for this 2020 movie titled "Home Stay" before I sat down to watch it. Because this movie was bad, so horribly, horribly bad.
Had I known that this movie was going to be a movie filmed with mobile phone cameras, CCTV cameras and such, then I wouldn't even have given it a running chance. And had I known that it was a movie where you just follow the monotonous and uneventful events of a married couple on their honeymoon, then I wouldn't have given it a second glance.
But let me just tell you that this movie is excruciatingly boring and uneventful. I managed to endure 45 minutes of pure, unadulterated boredom. Nothing, and I mean that literally, nothing happened in the 45 minutes of prolonged torment that I managed to suffer through. And I saw that people were saying skip to the last 10 minutes of the movie. I didn't even bother to do that, because after 45 minutes of absolutely nothing, I just had no more interest in the movie, its characters, its pointless storyline or its laughable camera work.
When I sit down to watch a movie, then I expect the movie to be a properly made movie. And that means proper and professional camera operating, cinematography, and such, and not something that is filmed with a dubious mobile phone camera or CCTV camera. And I most certainly have no interest in what feels like a home movie.
Sure, the acting performances in the movie were adequate, when you take into consideration that the actors and actresses had virtually nothing to work with in terms of a proper script, storyline, characters or the like.
"Home Stay" is without a doubt one of the worst movies and most boring movies I have ever stumbled upon. And I can't make it clear enough how much you have to give this movie a wide berth. It is just a total and utter waste of time.
I have no idea what writers Robert Jauregui and William Leonardo Molina were thinking here when they wrote this movie. But it amazes me that it collectively took two people to come up with absolutely nothing. But it would be more entertaining and enjoyable to just go out on the streets in the local neighborhood where you live and watch random people go about their business - it was essentially what was going on in "Home Stay".
My rating of "Home Stay" lands on a one out of ten stars. This movie was just atrociously bad, trust me. Do not waste your time, money or effort on this heap of rubbish.

When a review only harps on the negative and not praise the positive ..then I would discount their opinion ..This was a good movie on ,I am sure a low budget ..
Stumbled upon this movie on Prime - knew nothing about it. Despite the low scores, I gave it a view. I liked it! Its a found footage movie of a young couple on their honeymoon at a rented beautiful home in a quaint town. The movie did a good job setting up the characters: Veronica and Anthony - the actors did a wonderful job of making the characters come across as likable, fun and obviously in love with each other and excited about their honeymoon. Robert LaSardo did great job as the creeper stalker guy - is he dangerous? Is he there to help them? Keeps you guessing until the very end. Yes the movie is a slow burn but I liked that - building the suspense and mystery until the frenzied finale. And I liked how the movie played on the whole creep factor of renting strangers homes.
