Seven Times

This short film, Seven Times, should definitely be a feature film as the film was captivating and suspensful through to the end. The actors all did a brilliant job in portraying their characters, from Sonia - the endaearing woman gaining the empathy and portrayed strong courage and love for her children by her actions, Dom the antagonist displayed a professional, portrayal of a violent, nracassist creep, the children displayed as victims of a violent father, portrayed a very real and actual situation which they were in., all other actors a very believable representation of this great film that again, I would recommend as an Industry professional and movie goer be made in to a full suspensful feature film.

Domestic violence is a difficult topic to approach as a creative endeavour. It requires a raw emotion, depth of experience, and truth of engagement that is hard to encapsulate. Seven Times tells that story, and the reality of these shattered reflections in time is appropriately uncomfortable. Under the direction of Ashlee Jensen, Anna McMahon (Sonia Romano) and Daniel James (Dominic Romano) create a convincing dynamic keeping the viewer on edge and drawn into the ambiance of fear, uncertainty, and distant hope. Andrew Conder (DOP) and Bill Missett's (Editor) work is cohesive and transforms the stunningly truthful writing of Mara Kemara and Monica Sanguigno. Complemented by the award-winning composition of Enrico Fabio Cortese, this short film packs a punch. As well done as this film is it misses an opportunity to delve into larger themes and broader character and journey discoveries. Given a bigger budget and more time this short would easily lend itself to a limited series or feature film. Ultimately, it's exciting to see local storytellers meaningfully engaging in expositional, poignant, and pivotal awareness pieces with care and hard-hitting reality.
