To be called a documentary, you must only present facts/truth backed by evidence. It is lacking in this movie. Meaning of samadhi is tried to be explained using analogies, but it failed terribly. Most of the facts presented are distorted. Sometimes, they are plain wrong. Pacing of the voiceover is kept slow to give a pseudo sense that the things being told are deep and you will take time to understand. Video seemed pushed. It looked like they recorded the audio first and then searched the Internet for images/footage which would fit the context.
It's been a couple of years since I first saw this film. It opened a door to possibilities I would never accept to even consider. Now, I thank you for this. It truly did inspire me (a hard atheist at the time) to begin a spiritual journey. Through that journey, I at some point got to experience Samadhi. In no way have I finished the journey, as it is not the point. But I do know I now live a better life, not in spite of suffering, but because I accept and welcome it. Not only that. But it has helped me helped others around me, and to be more loving. I see it as my purpose now, to inspire as many as possible to do their own journey as well. Like you have done.
This DVD and Part 2 as well were fantastically and beautifully created. Judging this series, one way or the other, is really NOT where you want to be on your path. I will only say that you will know that this series if 'for you' or 'not for you' when you watch it. For my husband and I, we ABSOLUTELY found that it was the 'right' time for us to observe these and the art, thoughts expressed and ancient spiritual thought processes reminded us of who we truly are, why we are truly here and the 'work' we still need to focus on within ourselves. Highly recommend these DVD's for those who are seeking alternative possibilities other than what we are taught from birth as to our existence. You know who you are.
Imagine the world where there aren't that many movies being made because people don't need the distraction because they don't know escapism. The movies that would be made would consist of 98% treatises on how to be totally free. If a movie were produced where people kill each other, most people would react with amazement and disgust.
Because the collective consciousness has not yet reached that stage, it is unfortunately exactly the other way around: 98% of the films are about people who are in conflict or shoot each other because all unseen egos like to watch violence. When a few movie productions appear that do deal with consciousness, they are of course mocked by the ego's because if there is one thing the ego fears, it is that it will be discovered. Some of the comments here are living proof of that.
Samadhi is a sequence of universal truths from various religious disciplines. The movie does not zoom in anywhere and therefore remains too general to really lead to an expansion of consciousness. Also the voice over may be too monotonous to carry throughout the film.
Nevertheless, Samadhi is made with love and guts and presents a wonderful opportunity to delve into ancient wisdom. It contains beautiful texts and animations and the movie can be a good first reason to look inward. A nice first opportunity for the ego to discover itself.

This is the movie to watch if in your current spiritual level, non-dualism makes sense. You will find many reviewers giving a negative review, that's because they were not ready for the movie - as yet. I often come back to watch this again, when I want to see something which nutures the soul. Lovely movie and kudos to the maker!
