Molly

As much as I love the games S. T. A. L. K. E. R. And the many Fallouts (not you 76) and what this tries to emulate from those, you can't just make a movie about that. This is almost a little inventory simulator film of sorts, the opening bit is rather interesting I found myself hooked for the first 10 or 15ish.

Nearly no music to speak of and a strange Mad Max/RAGE post apocalypse that's basically nothing and pushed to the side. There's some zombie things that fight in a MMA cage match and it is just the whole middle portion. Acting is a huge miss, you'll see better in Steven Seagal's post-goatee MEGAHITS.

I will say it has some great shots, the use of colour is gorgeous but it is not much else other than a PG hash of Mandy (2018) and Becky (2020.)

I hadn't actually planned to watch this but accidentally got mixed up in the world premiere by mistake. So it goes.

The movie follows an unlikely post-apocalyptic hero, not a dashing Mel Gibson, or a long-legged Nikita, but a normal looking girl called Molly, who nevertheless proves endlessly resourceful and unexpectedly gifted in surviving the 'wasteland', which I guess is probably the old WWII German bunker ridden Dutch coastline. This is immediately the best part of the film, our bumbling heroine who stubbornly refuses to die, and carries the movie almost singlehandedly.

There are some other actors who make a good contribution, the black chap and the robot-arm girl especially, but for the rest its not high quality. We're talking C-movie level here so this is to be expected. The few special effects were unexpectedly good. What I especially loved about Molly were the realistic (and thus very messy) fights.

We're not about to win Oscars here but given what the makers had to work with I am quite impressed. I am wondering how Brits and Americans will copy with Dutch-accented English. I have no idea what they will make of it.

If you like Mad Max movies or Turbo Kid you will enjoy this.

I will always give credit where credit is due, hence why I see this as a 3 star .. although that might be generous.

So a few of the actors were actually good, and it appears several of the A FEW of the people behind the scenes knew what they were doing. But everything from the scripts to the scene staging were, well ugh.

I usually avoid commenting on other reviews, but I have to comment on the plethora of comments about how they admit the film has issue, and the fight scenes have major issues, but it was meant to be 'fun', so give the film a high rating??? That makes NO sense. Yes, a movie can be fun AND have high ratings, but you have to get the rest of the things right. And there a lot of good examples out there. Being poorly implemented but having fun so giving it a high rating is what we do for grade schoolers, not adult filmmakers.

It really is not that bad. With the budget they had, it was surprisingly watchable.

It feels like the kids that work at the haunted house got bored and made a movie. Dont fall for the bs reviews how this is a modern mad max. Its a solid 5 movie thats hard to watch from such terrible acting and awkward pauses.
