Historietas Assombradas (para Crianças Malcriadas)

In the early 2010s, the Brazilian Cartoon Network began to invest in the production of original animated series to comply with the ANCINE agreement for more Brazilian productions on TV channels. One of the first series was this one here.

Historietas Assombradas had actually started out as a (very average) children's horror short film made in the early 2000s, after many years in 2010 came a pilot episode (quite different from the final result of the series) that failed, but still so the creators pressured to want to continue with the series.

This show basically tries to be a rip-off for Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, but without the same charm and entertainment level of Billy & Mandy. Historietas characters are REALLY unlikeable (except for Marilu). Pepe is by far the worst character in the show, he is very immature, troublesome, selfish and is the main responsible for causing problems (at the opening of the show he just appears laughing at other people's misfortunes). And Pepe's grandmother is no better than him either, I hated her since the short film made in the early 2000s, she is a very bitter and grumpy grandmother who doesn't respect her grandchildren.

Excellent Brazilian animated series, great characters, nice script and good jokes.

The story is well developed, the script is excellent and very well written, the characters are great and very charismatic. The animation is great too, leaves nothing to be desired.

Overall it is an excellent entertainment that appeals to both children and teenagers.

I've been watching this cartoon recently, all episodes and the movie, I can say this show is pretty average. The animation tries to be one of those shows in the style of Courage the Cowardly Dog and Grim Adventures, but it fails a lot because of the ugly characters and the annoying protagonist that is Pepe, in addition to the excess of gross out jokes. The only characters I liked were Marilu, Guto, Gastón and Roberto, but Pepe is the character that ruins the show the most.

This is one of those shows with a lot of wasted potential,but unfortunately he is mostly forgettable, including by the movie.
