I'm right on the middle for this version of Ne Zha. One hand, I loved the final battle! Easily the best part of the movie! And the entire movie did a good job with the character of Ne Zha. He went through a solid character arc that worked! Not as strong as the newer films, but still felt like those films story and character wise! But, where im mixed with this film comes from a few factors. First, the animation is awful. I don't know what they were thinking, but the movie looks so unfinished, part of me thinks it wasn't even finished! Some scenes do look better than others, but most the film has awful animation. And the tone of this movie is goofy. One moment the villain breaks into song? What?! I do understand that a joke might work significantly better in China than it does here, but in my eyes, half the time they were being way too silly. But on the other side of that, the story and character moments, they got a really strong grip on. I'm really mixed on this film, it's bad here and there, but good here and there...
