Avis à la une
A serial killer dressed as a hot unicorn strikes horror in West Hollywood when he targets a group of friends. It's a fairly generic setup with a queer twist. The acting is not great but the movie is surprisingly fun with some cool kills. The movie obviously struggles with budgetary constraints but makes good on what it has which includes a super campy and fun villain.

A lot of the scenes are each member of the cast saying hello to every other member of the cast. Then catty banter. The film only shines when the titular character is doing his thing. Some of the death scenes are truly inventive. The ones with the arm and the funnel are novel. Danny and PuppyPup are about as pleasant of characters as you will get. And their burgeoning love story simmers like a good stew. But for having a clowny crew of drag personalities, most of the film is more annoying than kitschy.
Fierce as, that's just the performance of the drag queen with pink lashes lapping down her face in a stream of tears manner. Oooh and there's my favourite....snow!
I'm gagging over that hot killer unicorn, but gurrrl Mdme Mortimer is giving me chillls for realsies. That voice! Reminds me of when Raven SHOULD have won RuPauls drag race.
Thought all the drag queens were excellent. The queens social media reactions to Jess Jizz's murder was hilarious, great group of pals Danny has, I'm wishing I could get my gladrags on and head out on that randan.

I'm not even going to go into how offensive these cardboard cutout characters are. If you don't see it in the first 5 mins, you never will. But I know exactly no one who acts/speaks like this and I hang out with the Sisters Of Perpetual Indulgence. Apparently we call anyone we sleep with "Trade". The drag numbers are laughable and they aren't supposed to be THAT funny. The decisions and happenstances that make the movie possible make zero logical sense. Time changes without notice just because they need it to be nighttime. Also no one goes by the name PuppyPup. What the absolute hell? This is a train wreck from start to finish. I hated every frame. Want queer horror? Check out Hellbent. Want tired old stereotypes and a story that makes no sense? This movie is for you.
"Killer Unicorn" was a queer horror film recommended for me to review. And while I can see how it has the potential for a good queer slasher film, it has some major issues. Personally, I was ready to kill off most of the queens myself - they were annoying, not campy. In general, I think the film should've leaned MORE into the camp and low-budget horror because what we felt like a cheap imitation. But the worst offense was a storyline that was out-of-order. The synopsis starts off with an unsuccessful attack on Danny, and then skips ahead to the following year. But in the actual film, we don't get the backstory of the initial attack until halfway through. It doesn't make sense. Not to mention a few plot holes. Danny, PuppyPup, and MDME Mortimer are some of the better actors, and there are some neat kills. But those aren't enough to salvage this into an enjoyable queer horror film. Especially when there are others queer horror films that pull it off better.
